Sestak Case Deepens--Did White House Commit a Felony by Offering a Job to Sestak?
Conservative Examiner ^ | 5/25/2010 | Anthony G. Martin

U.S. Law states that it is a felony to offer a candidate for public office anything of substance, such as a job, in exchange for that candidate dropping out of a race. Pennsylvania Democrat Joe Sestak, who defeated Arlen Specter for the Democratic Senatorial nomination, claims the White House did exactly that.

In explaining the law on Fox Business Network's 'Happy Hour' program, Judge Andrew Napolitano stated,

Well the ramifications are potentially enormous. I mean to offer someone something of value in order to affect their official behavior as a member of Congress is a felony. We call it a bribe. To offer someone something of value to affect the outcome of an election is a felony. Each of those carries five years with them. The government has an affirmative obligation to investigate this. And Congressman Sestak who is a decent guy, we've all interviewed him. He sent you handwritten thank you notes after he was on your show, whether he agrees with you or not. Congressman Sestak has an obligation to tell the truth. Who offered him a job? What was the quid pro quo and what was the job? If he doesn't say that voluntarily a federal prosecutor should bring him before a grand jury and the grand jurors will inquire of his knowledge as we like to say.

Who would bring it to court? Surely not the Nobama administration.

That's what the Independent Counsel statute is all about.

How is this different from what Blago did in Illinois? Seems to be along the same lines to me.

It is impeachable, hell, the first article of impeachment that they were going to bring against Nixon was that he lied to the American public. The real problem is the need to control the house and senate with real conservatives and not just a bunch of RINOs in order to make it happen.

Didn’t Gibbs say yesterday that the White House had looked into it, and decided there was no offense, so they were not going to pursue it?

Don’t you people trust the PRESIDENT?

“Real” conservatives. ROFLMAO That will be about 2% of the vote. Can we convince everyone else to stay home?

The election in Murtha’s district shows how hopeless your hope really is.

Democrat Joe Sestak has proven himself to be someone that will work well on the Pelosi/Reid team.

We have a new kind of Republican(s) on the rise..... so after November, we may very well see this properly investigated and justice served.

Murtha’s district is one that has been overly democrat and corrupt for years. They fix elections. It won’t be easy but then throwing up one’s hands and declaring it hopeless and accepting a socialist dictatorship is the easier way to go. If you believe that only 2% of the national voting public is really conservative then one of us is delusional and I don’t think it is me.

Those kind of guys don't take the fall . If either one is involved you can bet they observed the adage CYAWP . CYAWP = Cover your actions with paper.

Yep. Neither of them are beholden to Obama, and they're sure not going to go to the Gray Bar Hotel for him.

The old thinking of "the nation could never recover from an impeachment" is out the window after Clinton.

The democratization and corruption you point to is pretty common across the land. There was no need to fix this election when the opposition was running on a platform which would not win in any but a couple of districts. The opposition did better in Murtha’s last election than this special one.

Those whom YOU would consider conservative are a tiny minority of the electorate and the winners of Congressional elections clearly show this year after year.

Do YOU know of any Senators whom you consider to be conservative? Or more than a handful of Representatives? Or governors? Sarah is touted as a “conservative” but she is more of a populist than anything.

In fact the terminology “conservative” and “liberal” is all screwed up and means less with each passing day. I am happy to find a “patriot” to vote for much less anyone fitting those two defunct labels.

According to the media anyone not a raging communist and/or pervert is a “conservative”. And Vladmir Lenin is a “moderate.”
