What the Tea Party Needs to Hear
Polycentric Order ^ | September 6, 2010 | Philip Hayes

Posted on 09/14/2010 6:20:42 AM PDT by citizenredstater9271

The Tea- Party has finally come to Comanche County. And so I suppose this is my cue to finally get involved. But before I do I would like to address a few things.

In the first place its important to recognize that not all of the “founding fathers” were patriots. There was quite a large contingency of men during those formative years that were not in favor of liberty for mankind, nor for low taxation, nor for a limited government. Ben Franklin at one point put fourth the idea of doing away with the states entirely and having a single central government to rule the entire country. Hamilton envisioned an American empire based off the British Empire. And George Washington after Fighting a war over taxes on tea, was ready to fight a war against his own people who were rebelling over his unjust tax on whiskey. On the other side there were principled men, who were of the opinion that what London was doing wasn’t right, and it wouldn’t be right even if it were our government that did it. George Mason, and Patrick Henry, chief among them, campaigned against the Ratification of the Constitution in Virginia, and were instrumental in the drafting of the Bill of Rights, without which, the constitution would be clearly seen for what it is, the Charter of a centralized, overbearing, intrusive and unjust centralized government.

The Constitution is not holy, it was not written by the finger of God on stone tablets and brought down from Mount Sini by Washington! the men who voted for it, were not founding fathers, but traitors to the revolution. Its justification, the very excuse for a stronger centralized government was to beat the british and gain our independence, they said the Articles were not strong...

This is an alternative point of view of the Founding Fathers written from a very pro-liberty perspective. I don't agree with all of this but a good read.

You're kidding, right? I stopped reading here:

the constitution would be clearly seen for what it is, the Charter of a centralized, overbearing, intrusive and unjust centralized government.

He missed the limited government and seperation of powers among the branches of government. Basically, the whole structure of the Constitution is not understood by the writer. This is a step below the average American dinner table conversation even among those who don't know much and have had too much to drink.

From the article:

Thomas Jefferson and his compatriots would be shocked to know that millions of school children across this land pledge allegiance to the federal government.

So would I. The Flag, and the Republic (with a follow-on brief description of the Republic). The words "federal" and "government" do not appear.

And that's where I stopped reading.

Gee, Ma...how did the TEA party movement get to be such a powerful force in today's politics, making liberals quake in their boots, without such Constitutional scholars as Phillip Hayes"?

All of a sudden all those left-eared journalist who laughed and scoffed at the TPM in the begining, are auditioning for jobs as "chief advisor" for how the TPM should think, hear, say, believe, and behave.

I would like for someone to take this picture from one of the TEA party movement events and draw a circle around Philip Hayes. I KNOW he's got to be there somewhere, anyone with the insight and forsight of Mr. Hayes has obviously done his on-premise research and knows what he's talking about.

tparty sl
"WHERE IN THE TPM IS PHILLIP?"

Oh, wait! I think I see him..he's the one with his head up his @$$.

This is total bullshit in my opinion.

If not God-given, the US Constitution was written by GOD-INSPIRED men, period. It is a document and ideology that fostered the greatest country on this earth - ever! It fostered a country so powerful as to be capable of anihilating any enemy, yet only asks for room enough to bury her dead.

Finally, someone concerned with lofty thougs, ought to look up things he/she are fuzzy on - it's Mt. Sinai, not Mt. Sini.

HORSESHIT.

He gives a good criticism of the Constitution and Founding Fathers from an anti-government point of view. Go comment on his blog post if you have an issue w/ what he’s saying don’t blame me.

There are anarchist punks who smash windows at the G20 and then there are free market anarchists who support ending gov. involvement in the free market and capitalism. The anarchists who support capitalism are wacko in their own way but they bring issues to light that most mainstream conservatives wouldn’t touch with a 30-foot pole.
