Not Your Mother’s Girl Scouts
Accuracy in Academia ^ | October 19, 2010 | Malcolm A. Kline

Posted on 10/19/2010 9:51:34 AM PDT by Academiadotorg

Americans may still see the Girl Scouts of America (GSA) as an apolitical group but the group’s leader has acknowledged a marked change in the GSA. “We’re not your mother’s Girl Scout troup,” GSA executive director Marty Evans has said.

“In 1972, they dropped loyalty to their country from their oath in favor of ‘I will do my best to be honest and fair,’” J. C. Willke writes in the October 2010 issue of the Life Issues Connector newsletter. “In 1975 the first Catholic Archdiocese cut off all support for the Girl Scouts because of their sex-ed program.”

“During 1993, the Girl Scouts made ‘God’ optional in the Girl Scout promise.”

“On my honor, I will try to serve God and my country, to help all people at all times, and to live by the Girl Scout law,” the GSA manual still reads but goes on to advise, “When reciting the Girl Scout Promise, it is okay to replace the word God with whatever word your spiritual beliefs dictate.”

“They still sell cookies, but here are some new badges to earn: ‘domestic violence awareness, stress management, girl power and decisions for your life’ (teen pregnancy, etc.),” Willke states. “Let’s note a few examples of these changes:

* “In Pennsylvania, Junior Girl Scouts (age-12) can attend a workshop on puberty designed by Planned Parenthood to earn their ‘becoming a teen’ badge.

* “In Connecticut, Girl Scouts honored a Planned Parenthood official for promoting ‘healthy practices’ in local troops.

* “In Amarillo, TX, Girl Scouts have sponsored Planned Parenthood sex-ed seminars for 4th through 8th graders.”

In Denver, Gold awards (top award, similar to Eagle in Boy Scouts) were given on more than one occation for 200 hrs of community service which pushed the gay / lesbian agenda into their school system. Further SCHOLARSHIPS were given to some of those girls.

Other girls who did their community service projects on a library reading program, food drives, etc also received the Gold but went lacking for any scholarship money.

My daughter got her silver award but after seeing that sad display has since dropped out of girl scouts.... with my support.

This is why I will not contribute money to them. I will not buy cookies and I feel very very sorry for the little girls I see because their mothers are too blind to see what a real woman and Girl Scout is. The Girl Scouts are a propaganda brainwashing club.

Code words and indoctrination for “social justice” aka marxism...

It either ended or it went stealth. You’d be surprised at what schools and stuff will do without telling parents.

That's ridiculous. When my girls were in scouts, I assisted the leader, who was a stay-at-home mom. I have to work, so there's no way I could commit the time to be a decent troop leader! Good for you and the other working-at-home moms.

my girls did daisy and brownies, they didn’t want to go on.
this was a decade ago. the badges for brownie and daisy weren’t objectionable then.

i did the cub/weeblo scout thing too. i enjoyed both of them, but my boys didn’t want to continue on. the leader was too boring they said.

i complained to our council. they said that’s what the organization wanted. we had our meetings at night so the parents that weren’t able to attend during the day, could come and observe or help.

Even if we ignore for a moment the babies that they have slaughtered, 10 year old children are being effectively molested by PP and the nation couldn’t care less. We have an organization so evil that it surpasses the Nazi propaganda in barbarity. What are Americans doing about it? Whining about petty discomforts! So much for the myth about the average person being “decent”. Everywhere I look there is nothing but filthy worthless cowards.

The baby boomer generation and my generation are the worst bucket of disease to ever infect the world. I’m hoping that the coming nuclear war will turn everyone sterile. That is the final hope...

You should worry every second about your granddaughter.

She is as good as dead.

Our troop is not like this. Both girls want to quit, but mom won’t let them. They prefer 4-H. The one thing I like about G.S. is that they sponsor a day at the University Hospital where the girls learn about medical careers. Youngest wants to be a surgeon.

I used to buy lots of their cookies because I thought it would help the kids. Now I feel really sick.

I just contributed to the corruption and death of innocents.

Somebody please kill me.

the unit my daughter was in during her year in brownies did nothing but make sit upons for an entire year

at the end of the year, they handed out a bunch of patches they never earned and the unit disbanded. When I wanted to help out several times, I was told that my help was NOT needed. over and over again.

outcome: my daughter was bored out of her mind and did not want to be part of the GSA again. I was lucky on that end.

If I remember right: On my honor, I will try, to do my duty, to God and my country. Something something every day, and to obey the girl scout laws. (girl scout in 1958-63.

It's very clear that the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts have gone in two totally opposite directions. I won't even buy Girl Scout cookies anymore and I LOVE Girl Scout cookies.

Our family left the GS last year because the kooky commie crap they were putting in their training materials: anti-gun, global warming, skinny-minnie dieting, you know the score. We went to a Christian girl’s organization, American Heritage Girls. We also homeschool, and there was an AHG group composed of mostly homeschoolers.

Do you know anything about Campfire Girls? I’ve heard they’re good too.
