The STORY Behind the Star Spangled Banner ! {GOTTA SEE IT !)
YouTube ^

Posted on 12/18/2010 4:06:58 AM PST by davidosborne

If you don't "LIKE" this video you have no clue what it means to be an American.. Even if you are NOT an American Citizen you should "LIKE" this video because it captures the HEART of what it means to be an American or an ALLY of the United States of America !

May God continue to bless the United States of America !

This is the story our kids need to hear in every classroom in America but sadly the bogus "Separation of Church and State" will not allow it....

.... yet another reason to homeschool

A lot of historical errors in this video.

This is something written by Isaac Asimov and it is much better and historically accurate.

Nice link. Here’s another one...

Combined military academy choirs sing “The Star Spangled Banner” with brass accompaniment at Superbowl 39.

An interesting historical footnote:

The rockets (...the rockets red glare...) were taken from the Tipu Sultan whom the British beat in India in 1799. The technology was unknown to the British up until that altercation. They also used them at the Battle of New Orleans on Jan. 8, 1915...which was actually two weeks after the treaty ending the war had been signed in Gent...although the treaty, of course, hadn't been ratified as the news wouldn't reach the U.S. for months.

maybe he could get all the words right on the next take

I trust the messenger didn't cause you to overlook the message.

Share with us the flaws you locate in this presentation on the same topic The Story of the Star Spangled Banner.

It seems to me that what the messenger says is the message, not the messenger. I didn't comment on the messenger, I commented on the message. John Adams said that "facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence."

It's a wonderful idea to teach our history, Lord knows the schools do precious little of it. However, if one endeavors to teach history, one ought to get his facts right. Otherwise, the effectiveness of the message is diminished.
