What could possibly be the motive behind this lunacy?
On the last day of December last year, Manuel Mel Zelaya, the deposed Honduran president and self-described victim of high-frequency radiation attacks by Israeli mercenaries, vowed to the press that he would return to Honduras. Few outside of Honduras have paid much attention to Zelayas MacArthur-esque prediction, but it has become apparent there is more behind his declaration than his usual hyperbole and bombastic absurdities.
Behind the scenes in the Obama administration there appears to be a concerted effort to pressure the democratically elected government of President Porfirio Lobo to dismiss charges of misappropriation of government funds and falsifying documents that are pending against Zelaya. This would open the door for his return to the country, and would be certain to undermine the delicate process of reestablishing democracy and order that is currently taking place in this poor and beleaguered nation.
When Zelaya was removed from office in July of 2009, the Obama administration at first joined with leftist dictators Fidel Castro of Cuba, Hugo Chavez of Venezuela, and Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua in calling for his reinstatement. The Obama White House seemed oblivious to the Honduran constitution, as well as the threat Zelaya posed to the stability of the country and the region. When the courageous Honduran people held firm to their democratic constitution and refused to yield to the pressure exerted by the U.S., the Obama administration found no way of saving face other than reversing course and backing the democratic presidential elections called for by their constitution.
After their amateurish and myopic miscalculation, which exposed the Obama State Departments lack of experience and incompetence, one could imagine the White House would want to avoid the subject of Honduras and Zelaya altogether. That, however, does not seem to be the case, as we learn from the new chairwoman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL).
According to Ros-Lehtinen, she has received reports that the State Department is applying considerable pressure on members of the Honduran government to absolve Zelaya of his alleged crimes. In a letter earlier this month to Arturo Valenzuela, the assistant secretary of state for western hemisphere affairs, Ros-Lehtinen calls for an end to the coercion of Honduran officials by the U.S. government that is allegedly taking place:
I am gravely concerned by reports I have received regarding efforts by U.S. officials to pressure the Government of Honduras to absolve former President Manuel Zelaya of the criminal charges he faces in that country and ask, within all applicable rules and guidelines, that if these reports are accurate, the State Department immediately cease exerting such undue influence over duly elected Honduran government officials acting in accordance with Honduran law.
With Honduras’ economy still in shambles in the aftermath of Zelayas attempt to install himself as dictator, the U.S. has announced it will not renew a $215-million aid program that ended in December 2010, which provided farming technology to Honduran farmers and helped improve the countrys infrastructure. Whether this decision by the Obama administration is a result of their efforts to pressure Honduran officials to grant amnesty to Zelaya is uncertain. Nevertheless, the news does not come at a good time for the administration, and it harkens back to those treacherous days in 2009 when the White House was threatening Honduras with holding back financial aid if it did not comply with its demands and those of Chavez and Castro.
Although the Obama State Department would like to portray their efforts to return Zelaya to Honduras as an attempt to bring closure and help heal that nation from the wounds it suffered 18 months ago, the reality is the opposite. Zelayas return would instead stoke the fires of factionalism and most likely bring more violence to a country that is still struggling to recover from the turmoil it suffered in 2009.
One of the groups leading the charge in Honduras to return and reinstate Zelaya as president is the National Front of Popular Resistance (FNRP). This leftist organization has produced a poster calling for Zelayas reinstatement that rivals the pomposity of their deposed leader. It features an artistic silhouette of Zelaya wearing his trademark cowboy hat, and it perfectly captures the leftist use of art to portray tyrants as heroes. The FNRP does not try to hide its Marxist dogma — on its website, it proudly declares that it is:
carrying out a political and social struggle against a savage capitalism that is transnational, monopolistic, and alienating. This struggle is anti-neoliberal, anti-oligarchic, anti-imperialist, anti-patriarchal, and anti-racism, which seeks the transformation of social, political, economic, and educational structures and cultural domination .
These are the allies of Zelaya in Honduras; leftists who seek the destruction of democracy and the free market in Honduras in order to install a system of social justice, which is newspeak for tyranny and enslavement. A return of Zelaya to Honduras would embolden and inspire the FNRP and other leftist groups, ensuring violence and bringing about another attempt to align with countries such as Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, and Nicaragua, which are all well on their way to a Cuban-style communist dictatorship.
In a country that is still struggling to maintain law and order, where Catholic bishops receive death threats for publicly defending the rule of law and judges recuse themselves from trying the case against Zelaya, the situation is nothing if not volatile. The Obama administrations insistence on introducing a pretentious despot with a propensity to incite violence into this unpredictable environment goes beyond incompetence and lack of experience; it is blatant recklessness.
One can only surmise what motivation is behind the Obama administrations decision to continue meddling in Honduran domestic affairs. Whatever the reasons may be, the Obama administration needs to explain itself. If the White House continues pursuing this course, it needs to explain to the American and Honduran people, as well as the rest of the world, why it has decided to put the Honduran people and their democracy in harm’s way.
The only thing they can do is blow the whistle.
This has the potential to be huge, but that would require a GOP PR apparatus that actually studied Goebbels and knew how to fight red communist sons of bitches in the press and in Congress (the communist "Congressional Progressive Caucus") blow by blow, not pussyfoot around and let a communist CPC member call them Nazis without retaliating.

Why not.. somebody talked “Baby Doc” into heading back to Haiti.
Three guesses who that was.
Honduras to Obama: We’ll allow Zelaya back when you appoint Palin Co-President. Deal?
The state dept is filled with quasi-commies and wanna be Marxists
Obama is a thinly veiled Marxist so why would anybody be surprised he is supporting, though back door channels, a socialist tin hat wanna be dictator
Baby Doc is the puppet of the Mullatos on the mountain tops
also get to know this guy - not a good guy but better than Aristide ... he hates the Clintons and the Marxists
Samir Mourra
he was one of the 54 candidates who last ran for President of Haiti - he represents the very powerful mulatto anti-Aristide-Clinton wealth and power of Haiti and other parts of the Caribbean
History repeats itself - the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce. The one concept Marx had right.
The elites of Haiti, some of the wealthiest in the Caribbean, will support Baby Doc as will vast numbers of the poor and middle class. They remember the stability and development he and his father sustained.
The oligarchy of these families has ruled and continues to rule Haiti to this day. The return of Baby Doc Duvalier will bring Haiti full circle to where it was 25 years ago. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Few know much about Haiti but they talk a good game. Baby Doc was a mere shadow of a despot compared to Papa Doc who was hardcore despot.
Samir Mourra is the puppet master if Baby is back.
Haiti is one of those sad examples where iron-fisted dictatorship seems to be the only governmental system that works. People we sent to Haiti were stunned by the lack of Haitians' ability to move in any discernible direction beyond hour-to-hour subsistence. Papa Doc and his son, Baby Doc, maintained authoritarian control through an iron fist, the Ton Ton Macoutes, a jack booted force of official militaristic thugs who patrolled the streets with billy clubs.
Under Papa Doc the markets thrived, hospitals were built and there were jobs. Most critically it was safe for tourists to travel throughout Haiti.
Under military rule after the Marxist Aristide was thrown out the economy began to flourish. Many American manufacturers sent raw materials to Haiti to be made into clothing, toys and much more.
Hillary, a fan of Aristide, convinced Bill to throw the military out and reestablish Aristides dictatorship.
Clintons embargo of all goods into and out of Haiti destroyed the Haitian economy literally overnight. When American support left in a matter of days a full 90% of the Haitian economy was devastated. They have never recovered.
It is worse than outrageous that the most hated American in Haiti, Bill Clinton, is overseeing Haitian relief and reconstruction efforts. It is not incidental that these efforts are failing miserably.
This is a deeply corrupt nation. Corruption is tolerated if it brings with it some real improvement in the lives of the people. Not trying to boost dictators...just making a comment about the unrest and out of control behavior down there...
Baby Doc will come to power by mobilizing the masses, overthrowing the government and establishing a dictatorship. This is Haitis long legacy. He will throw all foreigners out of the country. Then, we shall see. I do not expect O has the audacity to oppose him. Baby Doc wont have the support of Obama, because the professional black left supports the little Marxist, Aristide, and considers Duvalier to be a right-wing CIA puppet.
Nearly all of the infrastructure was put in place during the US Marine occupation after WWII but predating Doc, even less so following Aristides return.
I look forward to the Generals' return, those who threw the little Marxist, Aristide, off the island the first time. They were a respite of peace, stability and economic recovery. Clintons special ambassador to Haiti, Carter, pushed them out of the country and quite literally brought down the house, another fine example of Carter watering the tree of despotism with the blood of innocents.
Haitians are unable to think in terms of "future," because they're in a vicious cycle of tending to their most basic, immediate needs at the expense of any semblance of forward societal and economic movement.
Hate to say it, but it seems a dictatorial regime headed by the likes of Gen. Raoul Cedras or Baby Doc Duvalier, with all their attendant warts, may be the best hope for Haiti... at least for now.
If nothing else, a sense of order, however harshly imposed, may create opportunities for an eventual return of tourism and a regeneration of manufacturing in that unfortunate country. If "made in Haiti" vs. "made in China" will bring some needed revenue down there, I'm for it.
Perhaps at least the ox carts will run on time.
.
Thanks for the ping!
The Wikileaks memos showed that the Obama Admin. took the pro-Zelaya line in 2009 in order to suck up to Chavez.
Precedent to not only fail to execute a former President who openly violated the nation's constitution, but to allow him internal sanctuary.
Sound like any Kenyans you know?
It never stops!
His err.. regime is getting out of hand! Looking at those two yoyos, maybe he’s looking for a solution..
Thanks FARS.
Obama still doing the bidding of the Marxist dictators.
Demint asked for the State Department’s legal opinion of the whole Honduras conflict. I think it was written by Harold Koh. The administration would not release it to congress.
Makes me shiver to think of what possibilities he may try in order stay in power here. We all know how he feels about Constitutions.
There is nothing he could do to overstay his term. The people simply would not put up with it. In order to do so, virtually every federal agent, elected official, AND the military would have to become traitors.
