The GOP Jumps the Shark
The Constitution Club ^ | 04-16-11 | Zazu

According to the latest poll, joke candidate and conspiracy nut Donald Trump is leading the Republican Presidential field by 9 points.

Trump is pro gun control, pro abortion, pro socialized healthcare. He praised Hillary Clinton when she was running for President and spoke well of her health care plan. He has a long history of making donations to liberal candidates including Charlie Rangel, Charlie Schumer, and as recently as 2010 to Harry Reid. He was also recently contributed 50,000$ to the Rahm Emanuel campaign for mayor of Chicago.

Trump is basically a birther Romney only more liberal and with more ego than Kanye West. I think the support he attracts is indicative of two things; there is no strong candidate for the Republicans to rally around and they will desperately cling to any fools hope, and a large portion of the GOP base has moved into the insane asylum and have deluded themselves into thinking they can keep Obama off the ballot. These people are in for a rude awakening. Obama is vulnerable, but still enjoys the support of roughly half the population, in the absence of a strong, viable, and appealing candidate Obama will get a second term. Trump is a dead end, if he wins the primary he stands no chance against Obama, if he loses, he may decide that he wants more attention and make a run as a third party candidate torpedoing the GOP nominee. The GOP will live to regret granting this man the spotlight and will pay dearly for not kicking the birthers out of the party a long time ago.

Can’t say on Trump but please explain to me how or why the republican party can kick out anyone who thinks Obama should show his birth certificate.

I’m not a birther, but sick of democrats pretending to be outraged by people who question them.

Nonsense. The GOP would never jump a shark. They’d see the shark and run away screaming and crying about how they’d just seen a shark. Then, they’d hide somewhere and try and come up with a plan to negotiate feeding themselves to the shark slowly, one body part at a time, so they got to live as long as possible. They’d do this in exchange for the shark promising to go away afterwards.

Elections are won on turnout today. People are extremely energized against bummer. In far greater numbers than the few leftist whiners were against Bush

Settle down people. Trump is not going to be the candidate we are all going to vote for BUT what he is doing right now is a good thing. He has RINOs, Democrats and the Leftwing rags all up set that he is getting all the attention now. If nothing else it will hurt Romney and the Elite nose in the air A.H.s like Rove etc.

I know Trump’s record - always have ... but anyone who can get headlines bashing obama - then more power to him while he can ... Trump is not a Conservative savior - but let him beat up on obama for a while...

Obama's many "identity" problems will destroy him. Trump seems to have been the only one who really realized the extreme vulnerability here. We're talking multiple felonies by the guy in the oval office.

I fully support Sarah, but I am disappointed that she tried to soft peddle the BC and focus on other things. The BC is the big issue and we should not let our opponents convince us that there's "nothing there".

Mrs. Submareener and I have been reading some of Donald Trumps books. “Think BIG and Kick Ass in Business and Life” is a good one to start with. It is on Kindle. I think everyone who thinks Trump is a trojan horse should read this book. He wrote it with Bill Zanker, who started and runs “The Learning Annex”. Note: when Trump writes a book with someone, he actually gives them credit. After you read this book, get back to us on whether Donald Trump may just be the exact person that America needs at this time in history.

Yea, including at least one on this thread. The sad thing is, almost any "normal" Republican can beat Obamski, he is way way overrated at this point. He wont have the money advantage he had last time.

I guess the folks at the Constitution Club have never seen push polling.

I guess they’ve never seen news organizations use polls to promote a candidate or policy position.

I guess it hasn’t occurred to them that almost all of the people supporting Trump in these polls have no idea he’s a major pro-abort gungrabber.

I guess they didn’t notice that President Giuliani was several points up on the GOP field at this point in 2007.

I guess they really do believe that the American people would vote for Charlie Sheen over Sarah Palin in a presidential race, because a pool says so.

Give me a bleedin’ break.

I don’t have any issue with your type of thinking. I’m just concerned that some freepers are so deluded to think he’s actually a conservative. Trump is to the left of Romney and still a democrat, no matter what he say. He was still donating to democrats up to 2010. His conversion is fake

What you're asking the governor to do, AT BEST, is present a picture of herself to the voters as someone with little foreign policy experience and a domestic agenda that can be subordinated to searching through Obama's past instead of spending her time convincing them that she is the most qualified person to replace him. That's not a smart strategy, to say the least.

“Trump is a trojan horse. Some freepers are still stuck on stupid.”

Naa, they’ll come around, and soon. Right now they’re in the fantasy stage, where Trump looks so beautiful, like a beach model...and then you actually talk to them and find out that, more times than not, the babe is totally empty.

The research is making it easy for us to figure out Trump...and he will quickly be yesterday’s candidate.

I'm concerned that some freepers are so deluded to think that George Bush was a conservative.

I don't care if Trump had a death bed conversion... if he promises judges in the mode of Scalia and Thomas, he has my vote. I don't care if he passes the Free Republic "purity test" or meaningless "truth file". The real reason the GOP hates him is "free trade", China and OPEC. That's the real story here. Too bad. Move over or get out of the way of this train you call "populist" but is really just common sense.

That is exactly the type of thinking that will get Obama a second term. Of course, most conservatives know this is not true and will work to nominate a fighter who will take it to the Dems. Members of the Crybaby Boehmer wing of the party need not apply.
