A major question lingers unanswered at the center of this story: Why was bin Laden killed? Michael Scherer has reported that the Navy Seals who landed at Osama bin Laden’s safehouse were not given orders specifically to kill, but were on a “kill or capture” mission. That implies they were prepared to accept bin Laden’s surrender. It didn’t work out that way. But despite earlier reports to the contrary, including from White House counter-terror adviser John Brennan, Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters Tuesday that bin Laden was in fact unarmed. (“Resistance does not require a firearm,” he said.) So, what happened?

“The authorities we have on Bin Laden are to kill him. And that was made clear. But it was also, as part of their rules of engagement, if he suddenly put up his hands and offered to be captured, then— they would have the opportunity, obviously, to capture him. But that opportunity never developed,” CIA director Leon Panetta told NBC News.
I’m getting dizzy trying to keep these stories straight.
I agree. There is something off about the account of what happened at that compound.
My bet is that we did not deliver the kill bullet.
I could not care less.
The people in The World Trade Center didn’t have guns either. The people on the hijacked planes didn’t have guns, they didn’t fire shots back, they couldn’t defend themselves. F*** bin Laden.
What specifically makes you uneasy? What malfeasance are you hinting at?
3000 people in the Towers, Pentagon and Planes were unarmed too....
The only regret I have is that he wasn’t tortured Jack Bauer style before he was shot.
Q: “Sargent, when you shot Bin Laden in the forehead, what did you feel??”
A: “Recoil.”
Like the Florida Sheriff said when his deputies shot and killed a cop killer when asked, “Why did your deputies fire their weapons 42 times?”
“Because that’s all the bullets they had in them.”
He did not surrender. He was then killed. End of story. This was NOT delta force.
With your experience how could you possibly be getting uneasy about killing the bastard?
Why would a man with a bounty on his head not have a weapon with him at all times?
Or has standing in demanding these other guys are tried.
Anyway you look at it, this story is so new, no one knows where it can go, but one thing is certain, it sinks zero and his administration.

If he was unarmed, wouldn’t it be easier to just beat him down with their own bare hands? Just like the Joker said ‘using a gun is too quick. You can’t savor the suffering. That’s why I use a knife”.
