While the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) may have successfully sold the molestation of airline passengers as a “necessary inconvenience” on the road to national security, it is not so easy to explain away theft. Thus far, 200 current TSA officers have been formally accused of stealing from passengers’ luggage. Over 500 TSA officers have been fired or suspended for theft since the agency was established in 2001.
“We’re not saying that the thefts are acceptable,” said Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. “They’re not. But in the grand scheme of things, the risk of losing something from your luggage must be weighed against the need to provide a safer travel environment. We should consider the thefts collateral damage.”
The opportunity for Americans to experience collateral damage will be expanding. Napolitano announced that up to 8,000 surprise raids by TSA agents will be taking place at a variety of locations over the next year. Working in cooperation with immigration and drug-enforcement personnel, the TSA will be conducting SWAT operations to thwart terrorists and smugglers.
A prime objective of the planned raids, according to the Secretary, will be “to seize the large sums of cash used by these public enemies. There is no good reason for law-abiding citizens to carry around large sums of cash. Possession of such sums is, by itself, prima facie evidence of illegal intent. Confiscation of this money will both hinder criminal activities and help fund future operations of the TSA.”

Damn. You’re quicker than I am. It was bad enough to get your stuff stolen by gubmint workers - I was trying to figure out where/what TSA was going raid! Whew - but it sure sounds possible in this day and age.
Another good one John. I have never, in my whole life, seen a satire artist that is as good as you are at skating close to the edge of probable and possible while remaining just barely inside the bounds of sarcastic humor.

Where does the Federal Government find the delegated power to decide how much money a citizen can carry on their person or in their luggage or the power to consider such cash evidence of a crime or intent to commit a crime?

The TSA workers may soon join the AFL-CIO.When that happens,expect thefts to go up by maybe 400 percent.

Used to be Americans traveled the airlines with a sense of propriety an respect with quality items they earned an used for their trips without fear of loss or damage except outright theft or a accident or natural disaster being the cause of such a loss of property that included heirlooms or favored items.
That said I haven’t traveled commercial air since TSA was formed an won’t unless its conair with us marshal service an I have to.

I had to fly a few times a week when active duty military but will never do it again.
Travelers today shouldn’t take anything of value on a commercial flight.

Sadly enough, this doesn’t even seem to be “semi” satire anymore. Reads too much like regular news. It’s quite believable.
Even though the article is satire the screener is obligated to inform ICE and LE when currency or other monetary instruments appear to be in excess of $10,000. Lesser amounts are none of their business.
