A study out of Harvard University has advised Democratic Party officeholders and candidates to bypass participating in annual July 4th festivities.
“The typical July 4th event promotes patriotism,” said Harvard Kennedy School of Government Assistant Professor David Yanagizawa-Drott. “This is not a strong point for most Democratic Party activists and leaders. Reminders that government ought to be limited to protecting the inalienable rights to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness conflict with the basic message of the Democratic Party.”
Democrats were advised to appropriate a different holiday for political purposes. Either Labor Day or May Day would be viable options, according to Professor Yanagizawa-Drott. “Both of these holidays have historically been linked to the working class and its struggle against capitalist oppression,” the professor observed. “Both would be more amenable to the Democratic Party’s push for expropriation of capitalist wealth for redistribution to the lower classes. Making one or both of these holidays their own would enable Democrats to project a more coherent image to voters.”

While believable. a democrat will never miss out on the chance to try and buy er win your vote and would never miss a 4th parade in their life.
This ought to be circulated among leftists. It would thin the crowds at July 4th celebrations. But the wording is a little sophisticated; it would have to be dumbed down for the leftist mind.
April Fool’s Day would be appropriate.
Or Earth Day. (Those ARE different holidays, aren’t they?)
Or National Steal Like A Pirate day (for elected democRats).

I am not embarrassed to admit that I actuality believed this.
The problem is, this satire is too close to the truth.
I used to travel into DC for the fireworks. Between the heat and Al Qaida threats, not this year.
I thought I had become a John Semmens expert. I was wrong.. You got me again!
My first thought was which one now. Not unexpected.
They won’t be missed.
Conservatives should go out of their way to declare July 4th a “Republican” holiday.
When asked why, just reply, “Find a Democrat who isn’t disgusted with patriotism; who doesn’t think the way to support America is to attack it; who doesn’t want to force his view, via government and the courts, down the throats of his fellow citizens; and who thinks our country is exceptional in the world, far greater than any international body could be; and they can join in the celebration.
“Good luck with that.”
Yea, their better off promoting the atheist move this Independence day weekend of flying signs saying there is no God! Well it fits their profile better than being a patriot.
