If The Left Can Ruin Rick Perry, They Can Rule You
September 25, 2011 | Vanity

Posted on 09/25/2011 9:18:40 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Only 4 things can be highlighted as “topic” designations for a thread post. I found it a hard choice because – business/economy, education, government, health/medicine, history, military, politics, religion, science and society all should be included.

It is being reported by environmentalists -- believers in a socialist “green” religion -- that their judgment and knowledge is being resisted by “unscientific, religious deniers” hell-bent on blocking their path. So the deniers need to be “identified” for the good of humankind. This is dangerous. This morning I posted an article that explores with alarm, how Global Warming Consensus is denied by conservatives – that their resistance is an ever growing problem stemming from the religious right in America. The American ‘Allergy’ to Global Warming: Why?

I posted it because Gov. Rick Perry was mentioned at the top of the article. And there is good reason why. Socialists around the world know that Rick Perry has been fighting them on the legal front, the education front, and the environmental front for years. Due to his past, he knows why and where they are determined to lead us. Why would Rick Perry feel so strongly about these issues and their connection to states' rights and free market capitalism? Why does the Left recognize the danger of a Rick Perry controlling the Bully Pulpit of the White House, his veto, his appointments?

Rick Perry grew up on a farm (I know he keeps telling us this but I think it is done for a reason). His mother sewed his clothes. They worked and went to church. Rick Perry was a Boy Scout, earning Eagle Scout rank (so has his son). Rick Perry was a member of the Future Farmers of America. He went to Texas A&M and was a member of the Corps. Rick Perry joined the Air Force, serving 5 years. He flew C-130s around the world before returning to West Texas and the family farm. He courted his future wife, taught Sunday school and worked the land with his father. And in time he went into state politics.

Rick Perry is a self made man. He was called one of the Pit-bulls in the Texas legislature because he was a Democrat member who sat in the lower pit of the House Appropriations Committee and bitterly fought spending increases. He is naturally a conservative. In 1989 he joined the Republican Party that had begun taking root in Texas as the Democratic Party ideology began moving left. Perry ran for the Agriculture Commission seat against leftist Jim Hightower and won. In 1998 Rick Perry ran for Lt. Gov. and won (he was the first Republican Lt. Gov. elected since Reconstruction).

When George W. Bush became president in 2000, Rick Perry became the governor of Texas. He has been reelected twice (the last time beating out Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, a candidate supported by the Bush family and Karl Rove in a primary challenge). When Gov. Rick Perry was elected in 2010 for his 3rd term, he was joined by a Republican super majority in the Texas legislature. Major legislation was passed and signed by Gov. Perry, including (after a 6 year struggle) Photo Voter ID and tighter controls over how money is spent. Perry's history of being attacked by the mainstream media is well known and his election was won without one endorsement by a mainstream media outlet.

Rick Perry has served twice as Chairman of the Republican Governor’s Association. The country has seen a rise in the number of conservative governors and state legislatures in recent elections. Rick Perry broke fundraising records for the RGA. And now Rick Perry is a candidate in the GOP Primary for President of the United States. He wants to lower taxes, return states' rights, repeal Obama care, and remove the regulations and laws that are strangling our economy, and get people back to work.

Currently, the Left is battling Gov. Rick Perry’s stand on Big Education (unions) and EPA Energy and Environment dictates. Trial lawyers have made it known they plan to block any more power going to Rick Perry, as he has won so many victories against them as the Gov. of Texas. The Left knows Rick Perry has his own religious beliefs and does not adhere to their pseudo green religion. They know he understands the land, that he was brought up in a religious home and has worked for everything he has. The Left knows he attended a school that didn’t teach him to hate his country but rather instilled love of country. They know he served in the military and still encourages boys to become Boy Scouts. The Left can not put the lie to the fact that Texas' economy is running rings around Obama's disastrous economic policies. The Left knows that when Rick Perry shows compassion – has a heart – it isn’t because he wants to make you dependent on him but rather to set you free.

If the Left can demonize Gov. Perry, a man who believes in standing with our allies, making government as inconsequential as possible in our lives and who holds firmly to his belief in American exceptionalism – if they can successfully define him as a rightwing religious dunce, while simultaneously encouraging people in the GOP Primary to lambast him as someone who isn’t conservative, then the Left will have won the ideological battle -- their war against capitalism will be complete and they will permanently Rule America.

Did you read the article at all?

Rick Perry has nothing in common with Romney.

Even the loathed and despised Dallas Morning News that hates Perry had to come to his defense against some of the lies being perpetrated against him.

Mitt is smooth, oh so smooth, and he says exactly what he thinks people want to hear in this day and time.

Perry has some rough edges but a proven policy and a proven mind and heartset.

You are falling prey to the MSM and the emotional, over-reacting haters on Free Republic.

Don’t do it.

If I were going to list the candidates that are currently running from most conservative to least

Rick Santorum is the most conservative - but he polls at 1-2% and just rubs me the wrong way.

Michelle Bachmann - polls at 5-7% and her campaign has apparantly completely collapsed.

Cain - polls about 5% has no record, and he hates all Muslims and wont hire any apparantly.

Newt - polls about 6-7% but has more baggage than the cargo hold of an airplane.

Perry - polls about 30% but is not very good at debating.

Romney - polls in the low 20’s but has flip flopped on every major issue in order to get elected by Republicans.

Huntsman - polls about 1% and is in the wrong party

and then you got Paul and that other guy who are so far right they are left.

So having laid that out... then you are partially right that Rick when compared to the others is not as conservative as some, but he is the most conservative candidate that polls above 10%. And I always follow Reagan rule, to support the most conservative “electable” candidate.

How about we deal with what is and wait to see what will be?

If Palin get in it will change everything, however as of now she is not a candidate. Rather then assume things, let stick to what is.

You are wrong. When he first announced, I started my research on him. Nothing I found told me to support him.

And they keep doing it. Both Perry and Romney made a serious mistake in stepping over the people on their way to meet the perceived power brokers in Michigan.

Right off the top it’s a waste of time for Perry because this crowd are pretty firm Romneybots. Second, both underestimate the power of the tea party movement in Michigan and the end run around us will bite them.

I've stated before that I'm willing to vote for Perry, if he's the GOP candidate.

Yes, you have. I've seen a few of them that you stated.

That’s just wrong about Perry.

He has a clearly defined plan to protect the borders. It involves using the latest technology for surveilance, using drones, using troopers at strategic locations, using heliocopters and I forget the rest, but as for the fence, he’s totally right about that.

It would be impossible to build for many reasons and it wouldn’t work.

don’t succumb to leftist propaganda about Perry. Look up his positions for yourself.

Oh I know, Mc Cain really didn’t want to win. He liked Obama to much. Republicans got taken for a ride. But then Arizona stabbed us in the back by reelecting him to the Sen.

I still can’t believe Americans elected such an unqualified, inexperience narcissist as Pres. It is just jaw dropping.

Not much point now, they’ve all gone back and added flags to their home pages. You’ve known me long enough to know that I don’t lie. It’s not what I do EVER. I check them all out and 3/4th had “XXX has not created a home page”.

Have you ever heard of Monday night quarter backing...

I heard the intervew too...he explained that statement obviously it wasn't to your satisfaction...Rick Perry will be the first to admit a mistake...

BTW, he used the very same phrase in an earlier debate...why didn't anyone say one little peep when he said it the first time?

Shortly after Perry announced, I was listening to Alex Jones’ radio show.

Jones has some pretty disagreeable views about 9-11, but otherwise he’s a lot like FR in some ways. I was surprized at how flat-out hostile Jones was about Perry - despite being a conservative in Austin Texas.

I mean, he just went OFF on Perry, I was a bit shocked to tell the truth.

Somewhat less shocked now.

I continue to hold a positive opinion of Perry, but he’s way, way off course.

His problem is not, that he’s not telling his message correctly, nor that he does not have enough people out here spinning for him.

Perry’s problem is he’s wrong.

No what is destroying this Perry campaign is this arrogant refusal to take a good hard look at just how bad their candidate is performing.

Instead they want to blame everyone else for their candidate complete lack of competence as a campaigner.

Just like Progressive Democrats, Perry supporters are screaming bile at anyone who refuses to worship at their choose political shrine. A "Cult of Presonality" campaign is no more attractive when supposed Conservatives engage in it.

WAKE UP, YOU people are doing yourselves in. NO one is doing it TO you.

In-state tuition is a state matter and the students of illegals have paid state taxes through sales tax, property taxes etc. for at least three years.

I took it that they had to pay out of pocket. Maybe I misunderstood Perry on Hannity. He said they had to pay out of pocket and that no government funding was involved. Perhaps he meant if they had not been in the state for three years yet.

Sad but true. I like Rick Perry and I counted him as one of the few conservatives I’d be willing to support for president. His repeated support for illegal aliens and his unapologetic overreaching as governor seem to point to someone who does not respect the U.S. Constitution, even though he has many other great qualities about him. Bachmann, Cain and Palin are the only conservatives I’ll consider, now. They, also, understand the threat of environmentalists and I have no doubt they will confront that tyranny if elected.

There’s actually a lot I DO like about Rick Perry, but it is difficult to get past that gratuitous “heartless” remark. You really have to wonder: what WAS he thinking?
I’m tempted to think perhaps he was attempting a Churchillian Moment that failed spectacularly. “If you’re not a liberal when you’re 25....”

Apparently no one paid the least attention to that part of his response as to what he/the State of TX has done to staunch the flow of illegals in the face of the failure of the federal government to do anything. That’s just how things play out on the big stage.

Nonetheless, he has dug a big hole for himself and his campaign to dig out of. Not insurmountable, but awfully big. And they have to come up with the acceptable response awfully fast.
