Dismantled Accords + Rube Goldberg = Best Honda Commercial, Ever

This is great, if you haven't seen it...

A few years back a television commercial was produced by Honda's UK ad agency, working in concert with company engineers

who painstakingly took apart two special hand-assembled Accords to create this incredible Rube Goldberg-style contraption...

This (real/no effects) two-minute spot actually required 606 takes- the first few hundred didn't go all to plan.

They therefore had to re-install the set-up repeatedly over several weeks, working shifts day-and-night to achieve this effect. In the end,

it took three full months and $6M to capture a perfect run.

All you see in the sequence below -outside of walls, floor, ramp and the complete Honda Accord- was sourced from the two 'parts' cars.

When presented to company management, they were absolutely blown away... many commenting how 'amazing the computer graphics were'.

Imagine their surprise when they found out it was all real.

Note presentation of the cars' automatic rain-sensing windshield wipers feature...

Funny how that second tire gets bumped, rolls uphill, bumps another tire and then continues to roll uphill.

Perhaps the set inclines...

They used weights attached to the top of the tires to do that - pretty cool effect.

Really amazing. An advert that is also a work of art. Genius!

Read the post pervious to yours. Apparently, the tires had weights in the top, (or more likely at about the two o’clock initial position) so their center of gravity was actually moving down hill

there is a weight inside the top of the tires and when bumped off-center, it will roll uphill

Here's another great Rube Goldberg thing, done with photographic studio equipment:

Very, very cool. And as a Honda owner I will attest to the fact that with a Honda, things do “just work”.

Agree.
Our pontoon boat has the 225 Honda outboard motor.
It will do 55 mph on the water...

So, you ever have it in neutral, and forget it’s running and turn the key to start it?

Ouch.... I hate it when that happens.

I’ve never done that but you’re right. An extremely quite motor located 26 feet away (our pontoon is a 26 1/2 foot Play Craft) could make for an error...

Fortunately, my current vehicle has something that prevents that from happening.
