It’s the Republican debate “oops” moment that just won’t die. Texas Gov. Rick Perry got a few laughs during Sunday’s Meet the Press / Facebook debate, but this time he was in on the joke. Today, Perry named all three agencies that he thinks should be eliminated without any help from Ron Paul. Watch.

It's the nicest moment of the 2 NH Debates.

Gov. Rick Perry has a true joy and honesty about him.

Top moments in Sat night and Sun morning NH debates:

Rick Perry: Let’s Put Troops Back In Iraq ["I would send troops back into Iraq"]

....."PERRY: I -- I think we start talking with the Iraqi individuals there. The idea that we allow the Iranians to come back into Iraq and take over that country, with all of the treasure, both in blood and money, that we have spent in Iraq, because this president wants to kowtow to his liberal, leftist base and move out those men and women. He could have renegotiated that timeframe.

I think it is a huge error for us. We’re going to see Iran, in my opinion, move back in at literally the speed of light. They’re going to move back in, and all of the work that we’ve done, every young man that has lost his life in that country will have been for nothing because we’ve got a president that does not understand what’s going on in that region."

Rick Perry calls Obama 'a socialist' in GOP debate

ANDY HILLER:

10:06:46:00 Governor Perry, your party’s last nominee, John McCain, wrote in the Washington Post in an Op-ed about a year ago, his words, “I disagree with many of the president’s policies, but I believe he is a patriot sincerely intent on using his time in office to advance our country’s cause. I reject accusations that his policies and belief make him unworthy to lead America or opposed to its founding ideals.” Agree?

RICK PERRY:

10:07:13:00 I make a very proud statement and of fact that— we have a president that’s a socialist. I don’t think our founding fathers wanted America to be a socialist country. So I disagree with that— premise that— somehow or another that— President Obama reflects our founding fathers. He doesn’t. He talks about having a more powerful, more centralized, more consuming and costly federal government. I am a tenth amendment believing governor. I truly believe that we need a president that respects the tenth amendment, that pushes back to the states. Whether it’s how to deliver— education, how to deliver health care, how to do our— environmental regulations. The states will considerably do a better job than a one-size-fits-all Washington, D.C., led by this president."

Will Rick Perry move troops back into Iraq even without the request or consent of the Iraqi government?

The smarty pants Post writer wrote such a poorly constructed sentence - she should watch her own missteps...

“Perry named all three agencies that he thinks should be eliminated without any help from Ron Paul”

Was Ron Paul’s help in eliminating the three agencies ever relevant to the discussion?

LOL

What can I say?

Schools of journalism.

I imagine Rush will have some interesting comments about the New Hampshire debates.

Most everyone else is afraid to stand up and cheer!

Why didn't he just say, "In case your forgot about how much of dumbass I looked like a couple months ago, let me remind you........."

As far as his "honesty" goes, where do I start? How about the fact he wore a bracelet in honor of a fallen Iowan Navy Seal, which he received after meeting the parents of the serviceman. He pandered to the Burlington crowd by mentioning the wristwear.

When he doesn't get the results he wanted in Iowa, Perry calls the caucus process "quirky," and implies the citizens are not "real" Republicans.

Does it get more disingenuous than that?

Paul mentioned one agency that truly needs to be eliminated, the Bureau of Land Management. But Paul has also been the only candidate to cut to the chase: returning 500 million acres that were taken by the feds from the states, back to the states.

http://strangemaps.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/map-owns_the_west.jpg

There is absolutely no constitutional authority for this immense land grab, nor any legitimate reason *other* than to deny states the use of their own land. And to keep the “hoi polloi” (us) off land that environmentalists want for their own use only.

Conservatives have rarely said anything about this, but every single president since Teddy Roosevelt has seized ever more state land, in their minds just so that they would have a “legacy” of having done so.

At least Bill Clinton honorably stole land in Utah to pay off one of his major foreign contributors. There are only two major low sulfur coal deposits in the world, and this contributor owned the other one. By putting this Utah coal off limits, it guaranteed them huge profits and a monopoly.

But the heck with all of this. Somebody ask Perry if he will return these lands, or is Paul the *only* candidate willing to do so. If that is the case, we are in deep trouble as a nation.

Maybe Perry can sue the State of Iowa for having a quirky caucus process.

But, why would Perry spend $6 million dollars in Iowa if there were not any “Real Republicans” in the state?

You’re a little confused.

Wearing and mentioning a bracelet is “dishonest”?

Offering a point of view that the Caucus process was quirky is “dishonest”?

Huh?

The dirty little secret is IRAQ tried to get Obama to renegotiate the time table.

I agree. He and Rick Santorum shared the joke, lol.

If you notice, Perry seems to get along well with just about everyone who’s running, with the possible exception of Mr. Plastic. That’s not surprising, since Plastic has no discernible personality. But Perry just has a natural likeability about him.

I wouldlike to add the new Consumer Protection Agency that Obama just illegally named a head to in a recess appointment.

Another Agency we don’t need.

CW, that is just so disarming!

I’ve been a supporter of Governor Perry’s from the get-go and I’ve suffered through his goofs/slip-ups or whatever with all of the rest of his supporters.

And I try to watch him objectively; to listen to him and to try to “see” him through others’ eyes.

If the the early stumbles had been something that had been concerning me about Governor Perry, I truly believe that his response to them would go a long way to clearing that out of my mind.

He’s not dumb and he’s not mindless. He comes across as a “normal” human being with a great sense of humor, enough humility, with some grace on top of it.

Thanks for posting this.
