Ah, but they did. They thought they might be able to screw McCain on a technicality so they tried to say since he was born in the Panama Canal Zone he was not an NBC. Of course, since he was born on a US Military base, his Father was a navy officer (later and admiral I think), and both his parents were NBCs, the charged didn't go anywhere AND, IIRC, he displayed his LFBC on the floor of the Senate.

He could claim it’s an Islamic holy day and he’s fasting, on McDonald’s and Burger King that day, and can’t go out.

He could come up with an excuse that is 0.001% as valid as any of these.

No judge is gonna go after the chosen one, the messiah, our nation's Pharaoh. This is simply to take you eyes off the real evil he is perpetration on our once great nation. I was listening to someone play audio clips of the Zero singing at one of his perpetual rallies and the crowd was simply orgasmic. We cannot beat this - the nation has destroyed itself - committed suicide on Nov 8, 2008. The Presidential election is nothing more than American Idol for a far too large portion of our population - IMHO it is over. The most haunting memory of the USA that will stay with me until I pass on is the interviews of all those idiots gushing titled "Why Obama won the election" on You Tube.

While I would love to see something come of us, I think we need not get excited about it. Nothing touches this guy. Nothing but electing him out of office in November will. And on even that point, I’m unsure with the stupidity of nearly half the nation.

As we speak, assuming this story is true there are already folks “creating” documents which will be passed off as real.

I will say one thing...it is curious and ought to be by everyone that he won’t simply just put this stuff to rest and show what is wanted. Why go through all of this? Could his ego be that enormous? I think it goes beyond that.

The “birthers” have been made out by the left AND the right to be loons. Well, I say they are patriots who are doing SOMETHING while everyone else does next to nothing.

The reporter CLAIMS it was his mistake and that he "found" the information about Obama being born on the Internet. But this doesn't exactly add up because everthing else in the story was based on his interview with Tammy Duckworth. Why would a reporter create a fact based on a comment made by the subject of the interview. My bet is that Obama told this to Tammy Duckworth or that maybe she misunderstood that he lived there and was not born there. I know they retracted it, but the explanation just doesn't add up.

If it had further corroboration then it might invite more scrutiny. I know Chris Matthews repeated the claim that Obama was born in Indonesia (Dec 18, 2007 I think.) but this might be just confusion as you describe above, caused by not understanding something Obama said correctly.

My recollection is that prior to 2006, I kept hearing that Obama was born in Kenya. The timeline and logistics of it just don't work.
