Rasmussen: Newt Pulling Away Nationally
Reaganite Republican ^ | January 24, 2012 | Reaganite Republican

Posted on 01/24/2012 12:05:31 PM PST by Reaganite Republican

Gingrich 35%    Romney 28    Santorum 16    Paul 10

Well, that happened quite a bit quicker than I expected- Newt out 7 points on Mittens nationally.  If you missed it, Gallup already had the Former House Speaker hypothetically in a statistical dead-heat with Obama, too... maybe he's 'electable' after all, eh.

And another thing you hear from the other side is stuff about Newt’s considerable ego and ‘megalomaniac’, etc.

Well, consider this: the ball is REALLY teed up for any who’d like to be a conservative hero of all time… think about it. The opportunity is right there, and NOW: Newt said he’s going to institute a Reagan-Laffer-Kemp agenda… right?

Pulling the country out of the steep descent of the bizarre and destructive Obama era could make Newt the man of history his ego has long craved… and he’s surely smart enough to smell the opportunity. He's actually so strident in his conservative rhetoric, you could say he's pretty much painted himself into a corner.

That shining city on a hill is a pretty powerful motivator for him to stick to his Reaganite platform… the ego is far from a negative imho, now that he’s so obviously matured: on the contrary, could drive him on to success... and this one knows just how to do it.

If Newt Gingrich has wandered in his thinking out loud, so be it- I don’t think there’s any gain for him personally in morphing to RINO in office… think about it that way. His economic agenda was enthusiastically endorsed by Art Laffer- that ought to count for something.

Nevertheless, Romley has not won ANYTHING. Not Iowa, not NH, not SC. It’s getting to that point that he HAS to win Florida, or it’s going to be very close to too late for him. I hope it doesn’t make him feel too bad.

The anti's who have harped on Newt's negatives have been thinking like democrat media whores--they seem to ignore that a robust and effective campaign has one purpose, which is to change those preferences. And he has nine months in which to do it.

Independents, the bugaboo of the establishment republicans, were not shy about swinging right in 2010. They responded to a strong message and sent a wave of candidates to office who campaigned on generally conservative ideas. No reason to think Newt is going to "scare them off" now, when obama has become even more deranged and dangerous.

I expect he will win Florida, and I expect the ruling class to go totally bananas. It should be a delight to watch.

They WERE allowed in--but you know what they say about being able to "take the heat"!

Newt's gotten plenty of heat--but he gives back better than what he gets.

THAT is what our country needs right now. And that is what our "firebrand" founder of FreeRepublic has figured out, and what his forum is now fully focused on!

Hold on, I have heard over and over how Rasmussen was a shill for the Establishment/Romney/Media/Obama/ etc.

Must mean Newt has a much larger lead

Agree, but Rush nailed this yesterday. Newt can’t make the whole campaign about running against the media: he has to start expounding and explaining CONSERVATISM and, yes, repudiating some of his nuttier ideas such as global warming.
But if he keeps the focus on Obama, the world is his oyster.

Now, THAT is a ticket.

BTW, here in OH I just heard a Newt ad about the "second Republican Revolution" and it was excellent. Upbeat, prosperity, etc.

I love to see a Gingrich/West ticket. The LTC would get the military vote higher than ever. Watching him debate biden would be priceless.

Now, THAT is a ticket.

It would shut the mouths of a few rascists, not many, but some.

Newt is great but he’s not ‘safe.’

He needs a steady, reliable VP who has no negatives. One who will balance the ticket. I wouldn’t go West or even Palin.

Newt can’t make the whole campaign about trashing the media, but he should certainly continue to take his shots.

The media is extremely unpopular and people have loved Newt putting them in their place.

What d charming edition of this story! I collect early children’s books, and love the artwork on this one. I wish I could find it to add to my collection.

I think I will try to keep the audio turned down on the speech tonight until Herman Cain comes on.

Never forget that the RINO establishment has not earned the Stupid Party label without good reason. These august personages have never been bashful when it comes to snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. The RINO establishment positively has a death wish.

I think this is make or break time for them — if they attempt to go scorched earth and side with the MSM and Donkeys — they will be cutting their political throats and be the equivalent of the Whigs. Or, they can choose self-preservation.

Are they smart enough to choose wisely? We will know if Newt takes FL and Mittens is sent to the oblivion he deserves. I personally think these morons will go kamikaze against a Newt nomination and against the will of the American people. The RINO establishment IS that stupid.

last night luntz, the spin pollster, only asked Obama vs Romney.

This AM LOOOOOOOONG before people had to leave for work they had Romney attempting to immitate Newt’s fighting style.

Gingrich was on closer to 9am when people already had left for work.
