Will that Romney lead shrink after the 9 contests?
The Orange County Register blog Orange Punch ^ | 3-7-2012 | Mark Landsbaum

This campaign ain’t over by a long shot. Mitt Romney’s delegate total for the Republican race to choose President Barack Obama’s opponent in November stands at 404, according to Real Clear Politics, compared to runnerup Rick Santorum’s 161, with 1,144 needed to win.

Even though Romney won six of Super Tuesday’s 10 contests, news reports fall something short of coronation. One reason may be the next nine primaries between now and April. With the exception of Illinois, none of the states in the coming month look particularly Romney-ish. . .

It’s not a stretch to think Santorum could sweep that lineup, which would bring things much closer. . .

Yeah freerepublic was popular but it’d be more popular if the Google rating was higher and the main thing that makes the Google rating higher is linkbacks from other sites. All the harassment and banning trophy hunters do to bloggers reduces linkbacks and so freerepublic’s popularity and so freedom.

Nice theory, but I don’t buy it.

Even if it did, it’s irrelevant. Free Republic’s owner has been quite clear that blogpimps is something he doesn’t want.

I’m not trying to change the policy of this site but trying to appeal to those that keep harassing bloggers to stop harassing bloggers.Imo that harassment is causing bloggers to not put backlinks to freerepublic, which in turn reduces freerepublic’s Google rating..

I think that “rurgan” is just trying to keep the blogger forum free of scrutiny so that the fans of Hentai Anime’ can have a place to congregate.

Blogs and other sites linking to freerepublic is one of the main things that help make freerepublic popular

A few douche bags and their POS MySpace page "blogs" made Free Republic popular?

That is the stupidest thing I have seen posted in a while.

Put the bong down!

A few less backlinks to Free Republic won’t even be noticed. Seriously, what fraction of a percent do you think those backlinks represent?

I think freerepublic is losing a lot of backlinks. I notice a lot of these bloggers get harassed.

There are many companies that pay huge bucks to other companies to create websites and link back to them. I know a guy who owns a company that uses one of these companies and he says it works.

Search engines often use the number of backlinks that a website has as one of the most important factors for determining that website’s search engine ranking, popularity and importance

Freerepublic is awesome. I think it is popular but it could be even more popular , probably one of the top 100 imo. And that would counter the mainstream liberal media.

Anime? LOL. I have never seen one of those which I think are cartoons or something?

Search engines often use the number of backlinks that a website has as one of the most important factors for determining that website's search engine ranking, popularity and importance. Google's description of their PageRank system, for instance, notes that Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B.[2] Knowledge of this form of search engine rankings has fueled a portion of the SEO industry commonly termed linkspam, where a company attempts to place as many inbound links as possible to their site regardless of the context of the originating site.

It is apparent that you are a liberal because you know you are arguing a losing battle because your entire premise is both flawed and stupid.

To be clear, FR isn’t popular because of the backlinks from a few POS blogs.

The blogs want to steal from FR.

Blog pimps are blood suckers and are not welcome.

Understand now?

I’m aware of the algorithms used to determine search engine rankings, but we’re talking percentages here. What fraction of what percentage do you think rinky-dink blogs’ backlinks represent to Free Republic?

You can “think” FR is losing a lot of backlinks, but until you can present some hard facts, I “think” you’re fully of hooey.
