Ben Stein To O’Reilly: Obama Not A Smart Man, Not In ‘Same League Of Presidential Genius’ As Nixon

Bill O’Reilly spoke to economist Ben Stein about a potential Mitt Romney presidency, as well as what Stein thinks of President Barack Obama. Going beyond wanting Romney to win, Stein said Obama isn’t particularly smart. Smarter than “the average bear,” but not of the likes of President Richard Nixon.

Stein began by speaking about he riots in Greece, warning those who think it can’t happen in America. Young people without jobs who are angry, and have nothing better to do, may riot, he said. It’s “fun for them. They can be provoked into doing it at a drop of a hat.”

O’Reilly then pivoted to the question of a Romney White House, saying it’s inevitable that he would make huge cuts in government spending. Stein responded saying he would like Romney to win, but doesn’t think he will because Obama will “swamp” him in terms of fundraising. But of course there would be cuts, he said:

And the people will be whipped up by a frenzy by people at MSNBC and elsewhere, at least that’s my prediction. There will be rioting in the streets and they won’t even need MSNBC. They will be whipped up into a frenzy by their local friends and family. They’ll go out and riot and we will see things like we saw in Greece here in America. Then I don’t know what we’ll do.

Finally, O’Reilly asked, “Barack Obama is a smart man, you would say that, right? He is a smart man?” Stein replied, “No, I wouldn’t say that.” He added, “I wouldn’t say is he a smart man. [...] not in the same league of presidential genius as Nixon, for example. But he is smarter than the average bear as they say.”

Dubya has a Harvard MBA and he’s supposed to be the biggest idiot to ever sit in the oval office. LBJ had a bachelors degree from a teachers college and he held tons of power from about the 1930’s to 1969. Lincoln and Truman never set foot inside a college classroom. Heck, neither did Washington.

The advantage to a Romney presidency is that the media would hold his feet to the fire. The part of their job they have refused to do for the current resident.

“How do you think he won the Presidency??”

More people have extremely bad taste in more things than ever?

They voted for a guy who is at best a cliche’ of media and pop culture and it’s getting old.

He’s falling through a cushion of thinning air and he can’t work without a net to save his life. He’s an empty suit.

No, Obama’s not necessarily smart and there was fraud all around. The criminality of it all was/is unprecendented.

Expect Nixon to be brought up many times during this election. If you liked the Quaker you'll like the Mormon.

After Carter II we should have had a Reagan II. The Republican establishment wanted to protect their seats though. In the end the looters working from all sides always sack the castle.

“Don’t sell Braky short. I have always thought that he is plenty dumb, maybe even Biden class stupid.”

Biden class stupid?......Are you reaching way over the top!

In re "Obama Stupid?"

When left to his won devices, he strikes one as nowhere near the sharpest chisel in the toolbox. However, the theory to which I subscribe goes, "he is smart enough to do what he is told, and when the chips are down, to read the psychologically chosen keywords on the 2 teleprompters." He certainly cannot speak on his own, cannot write coherently, and has very little factual information under control.

We know a few of the people who call his shots, not all of them. Surely you have noticed that he actually does very little, and spends little time actually at the "job." His job, IMO, was to move the Socialist Revolution begun in the days of FDR to Phase II, and then turn it over to more capable hands to complete.

I often suspect that he is not smart enough to know "The Plan" and may believe his own publicity.

Sure, like they held Bush's feet to the fire. And he still managed to give the liberals everything they wanted.
