Fast and Furious investigation could end today, Holder go scot free

Attorney General Eric Holder will meet with Fast and Furious nemesis Congressman Darrell Issa at 5:00 this afternoon in what could mark the end of the Congressional investigation of Barack Obama’s deadly gun smuggling scheme.

Last week, House Republican leaders at last agreed to schedule a vote on the Contempt of Congress charge Issa has long sought to bring against the Attorney General for 8 months of refusing to honor Congressional subpoenas. Deputy Attorney General James Cole quickly responded with a letter to House Government Reform Committee chair Issa, requesting a meeting to discuss ways of avoiding the vote.

Issa agreed to meet with the Attorney General, but only if the Justice Department were willing to “…submit a serious proposal for how it intends to alter its refusal to produce critical documents subpoenaed by the Committee…”

One day later, on June 14th, Holder answered with a two page letter outlining the “compromise” offered by the Department. According to the Attorney General, the “extraordinary accommodation” proposed by the DOJ in that letter represents “… a serious, good faith effort to bring this matter to an amicable resolution.”

But based upon the contents of Holder’s letter, the...

Seeing as how Issa only has a Boehnless Nerf bat to go after Holder with right now, he might have to swallow this deal in order to learn anything more. Sucks.

It’s just one giant cocktail party in DC. Nobody’s left in the house to call the fire department when the house is on fire. Let’s just compromise, call it a day, and have a cold one.

Methinks Coach is giving the tea leaves more attention than they deserve. This is just pure speculation with very few facts to back up his position.

I wish people would realize that congressional hearings and investigations are nothing but show. They might just stand up and demand that we the people be allowed to conduct these things.

I'm not sure why Issa thinks he's scoring points with conservatives, he's not. At least not with me he isn't. I see NO INTENT to bring holder to justice. The only thing Issa seems to be concerned about is staying in the news and his own celebrity status. What exactly is Holder going to deliver to Issa that somehow makes it OK to look the other way about Holders involvement in the murder of hundreds of innocent people, including two US federal agents?

Issa and the republicans are the ones on the hot seat now. It's time to get some balls and bring this man to justice. Holder has committed so many offenses that any special prosecutor worth his salt would be looking at putting this guy away for many many years.

I think the republicans and conservatives should be demanding holder be held criminally accountable. It's the ONLY way to assure this "never happens again". If this is not done then we should hold Issa, Beohner and anyone else on this committee responsible by voting them out.

Putting the stank on Holder will probably have to wait for a Romney administration, and even then it’s a flip of the ole waffle iron.

I believe Holder was to turn over the documents at 11 am today.

Haven't heard if he did.

I have been following this since january 2011.... remember, it took a democrat congress 18 months to bring a republican president down (watergate)... the wheels turn slow. We are i the endgame right now... let it play out another coupla weeks before jumping to conclusions based upon speculation

I expect a Sandy Berger “punishment”.

A slap on the wrist, probation, and a return of his security clearance. Today Berger is a boardmember on the International crisis group where he shares our national secrets with the likes of George Soros, Kofi Annan, Mohammad ElBaradai and many more.

You or I would be buried under the jail for less

“I wish people would realize that congressional hearings and investigations are nothing but show.”

So sadly true. Did all of those hearings by a Republican congress in the 90s bust the Clinton cartel?

Clinton’s impeachment was a joke, and failed to hold him accountable for anything.

Not really Issa is after bigger game.

Wow, that is either extreme hero-worship, or extreme naivety, to the point of denying reality.
There is no "bigger game" that Issa [by himself] can go after than the head of the DOJ.

“it took a democrat congress 18 months to bring a republican president down (watergate)”

The propaganda media is on the Democrats’ side. They wanted to bring down Nixon, but they will do anything (no matter how unethical) to protect the Obama/Holder regime.

NBC just got on board with the story last week, and it’s basically spun as a partisan witch hunt, although there is nothing “partisan” about the deaths enabled by “Fast and Furious”

Nobody died over Watergate, either.
