Dick Morris appeared on Fox and Friends this morning and was eerily prescient. The crew was discussing Fast and Furious and the possible Eric Holder Contempt of Congress vote that looms. Someone asked Morris what he thought was going on and Morris said that it seemed that Obama was going to allow Holder to take the hits on his own over F&F. Otherwise Obama would drop a cloak of Executive Privilege over the documents, but that would in turn make it appear as though Barack Obama was directly involved in the mess.

And now it appears he is directly involved.

President Obama on Wednesday asserted executive privilege over documents sought by a House panel ahead of a scheduled panel vote where Attorney General Eric Holder is expected to be held in contempt of Congress.

It's the first time Obama has used executive privilege since taking office. A White House aide said the president had gone longer without asserting the privilege in a congressional dispute than any other president in the last three decades.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said his panel was "evaluating" a letter from Deputy Attorney General James Cole asserting the privilege that arrived minutes before Issa's committee was to begin contempt proceedings. The vote was to take place Wednesday after a last-ditch effort to reach a deal over documents related to Operation Fast and Furious failed on Tuesday night.

Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley asked some pointed questions about the assertion of Privilege:

I caught on Fox that the justus department has now had to "retract" sworn statements and letters 3 times now.

At what point do the ministry of propaganda finally come out and admit they're covering for a vast left wing CRIMINAL conspiracy?

Some leftist this morning kept ranting that this was just a "fishing expedition." "Fishing expeditions" are trying to manufacture a crime to hang on a target (a perfect example being Scooter Libby). That's certainly NOT the case here. Nobody claims there were no crimes, thought the justus department denied anything at first. Once caught in a lie, they "retracted" a letter and admitted that something might have happened. Finally, they admitted that it was local offices behind it all. Now there's proof that DC people knew, but they're hiding the incriminating documents. But thy can no longer deny that agents and officers of the US government have committed crimes here. Hell, there are TWO dead US agents and HUNDREDS of dead Mexicans, courtesy of illegal international weapons trafficking promoted the the US government. The only question is how high does this go? The answer is at least Holder, but I have NO DOUBT that Obama knew of this, and given his propensity to order the deaths of people via drone strikes, it may have been his idea from the beginning.

Right. The WH either is incredibly dumb in not thinking two steps ahead, OR is setting up Holder to be squished by the bus. Invoking the privilege is prima facie evidence Holder lied, so he’s now between a rock and a very hard place.

My guess is that they're all working on a new story which will help divert attention. I expect to hear any minute now an announcement that Zimmerman's father, 6 cousins, his attorney and his dog have all been arrested.

Remember Valerie Plame and the the ministry of propaganda demanding the scalp of Dick Cheney? The special persecutor KNEW the name of the leaker within days of the beginning of the investigation. Since they couldn't hang it on the guy who actually leaked it, due to his connections to Colin Powell, and the fact they couldn't get Cheney, so they went after someone connected to him, and manufactured a crime to hang on Libby.

But where are their screams about the security leaks of ONGOING operations? Just last night a new leak revealed ANOTHER computer virus launched against Iran. So that's what, 6 major leaks just in the last month or so, and not a peep from the ministry of propaganda.
