According to President Obama, Entrepreneurs Don’t Build Businesses
Principles & Policy ^

Posted on 07/15/2012 11:15:14 AM PDT by Sark

Last night, President Barack Obama delivered some telling remarks to a fire station full of people in Roanoke, Virgina. I’ll save you the trouble of reading the (long and uninspired) speech and provide you with the most interesting part:

“If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.” – President Barack Obama, July 13th, 2012.

It would be easy to respond with something along the lines of, “Somebody else made that happen? Who? Who magically imagined the product or service, started the business, built it up, and created the jobs? Who was it? The tooth fairy?” And to some extent, President Obama’s statement is so ridiculous as to merit that sort of quick, flippant response.

Of course. businesses are just formed in the USDOB and then exploited by businessmen and businesswomen who invest nothing, risk nothing, do nothing. Obama is a clown.

Typical statist wonk, who believes that good can only come from the collectivist state, and the actions of individuals are disruptive.

In the long term what I think Obama is setting us up for the Government to ‘take over’ any business at will because... ‘Ya know you just didn’t build that business... The Government did.’

And as the soviets found out, you just can’t decree success out of nothing. And people being people, we all operate at one level or another on self-interest and the desire for profit from our endeavors no matter what they are. Be it sweeping floors or building multimillion dollar businesses with just an idea and lots of hard work and sacrifice.

His base will like that he said this. Because most of them “suck at life” and this kind of talk makes them feel better about their sorry asses and it, at the same time, diminishes successful people. He’s playing to his subset of losers when he speaks like this.

As a person who started a business in 1985, carefully, on my own - no investors, nurtured it for 14 years and sold it for a handsome profit in 1999, I can somewhat authoritatively state that nobama has absolutely no clue.

The man has never made a payroll and has no clue to the difference between a profit and loss statement and a balance sheet. If he did he wouldn't make such screamingly outrageous statements.

From the article:

Ignorant idiot.

I honestly don’t know if he meant it in a statist way or a pro-labor way. I’d tend to assume the latter, but it could be the former.

If he believes you didn't build it.....he sure as hell believes you don't own it!

this is one step away from taking everything over.

His remark reflects the kind of lack of understanding which comes from never having studied the ideas of liberty which transformed this wilderness into the most free place of opportunity, prosperity and plenty which ever existed on the globe!

James Madison ("Father of the Constituion") said that the economic proserity experienced in America was the result of a "benign" government, not a malignant invader of every cell of national life, as it is today.

America's liberty and prosperity for over 200 years was based on another idea, for the earnings of hardworking citizens were protected from the coercive hand of government by a written Constitution which did not allow arrogance of wannabe "rules" such "taking" power as so-called "progressives" now claim.

Hear Samuel Adams:

"Is it now high time for the people of this country to explicitly declare whether they will be free men or slaves. It is an important question which ought to be decided. It concerns more than anything in this life. The salvation of our souls is interested in this event. For wherever tyranny is established, immorality of every kind comes in like a torrent, it is in the interest of tyrants to reduce the people to ignorance and vice.” - Samuel Adams

And:

“The utopian schemes of leveling and a community of goods, are as visionary and impractical as those which vest all property in the crown. These ideas are arbitrary, despotic, and, in our government unconstitutional.” - Samuel Adams

Sorry! Third paragraph should have read:

"America's liberty and prosperity for over 200 years was based on another idea, for the earnings of hardworking citizens were protected from the coercive hand of government by a written Constitution which did not allow arrogance of wannabe "rulers" such "taking" power as so-called "progressives" now claim."

Obviously he's too ashamed of his school records to release them.

Thank the puppet masters who insalled him into office (first and foremost The Media. Then all the Marxists who raised him. Then the Muslims who also raised and supported him through college. Then Syrian “Tony” Rezco who made him part of his criminal empire. Then the hapless Democrat party who traded their country for “Hope and Change”.
