My sister Barb has cancer on the brain now. According to her doctors today, she is in dire need of care. Part of the roller coaster of the last few days (especially for me, because I was dead-set against it) is that she has abandoned regular medicine and has gone in for the "naturopath" route of tons of supplements and the like.
Now we need to confront her and get her to change her mind. The doctors told her husband it is imperative; time is of the essence. Time is exactly a prime reason I'm against playing around with "alternatives".
I'm praying we can get her to take what she needs to give her more time. Her girls need her longer, too.
My mother is already obviously (over the phone) a mess about all this.
P.S.: Please pray for her son Rutger, as well, as they were rear-ended badly just the other day and Rutger is in much pain and having trouble speaking. As if there isn't enough going on!
What odds for the effectiveness of conventional medical treatment have the doctors given her?
“Now we need to confront her and get her to change her mind. The doctors told her husband it is imperative; time is of the essence. Time is exactly a prime reason I’m against playing around with “alternatives”. “
First, my condolences and prayers.
Second, she should have tried natural approaches first.
Having said that, it’s her life. If she can live and die with whatever dignity she chooses. I support her choice.
Prayers up for Barbara and her loved ones.

Praying for healing for Barb, and for comfort and strength for all of you. God bless.
It is about quality of life, not quantity, when dealing with this dreadful disease.
And that you know when to motivate her ... and when to support her decision... without adding to her (and your) fear and guilt and pain
Hospice workers can be a Godsend, people she (and you) can talk to honestly
God Bless
Your post broke my heart. I’ll be keeping your girlfriend, and you, in my prayers.
Prayers for your sister and family.
I have no info now. Perhaps I will hear it from my BIL tonight.
This has all happened so fast. All I know is my parents called me 2hr ago and told me BIL talked with the doctor - my mother is a mess - and dad said something about there not being much time, period; that we need to have an “intervention” ASAP, if you will. So I know little except told to come help.
I am scared no matter what, because I know my friend’s mother had virtually the same thing and died within months of finding it on her brain.
Prayers up, of course. God bless you and yours. BTT.
Thank you most sincerely for your prayers and for your kind expression of sympathy.
Sorry to hear what you are going through... and to the poster of this thread as well. I never take for granted my good health. None of us should.
Prayers up for God’s grace, wisdom and strength. Do you know the actual diagnosis? Would this happen to be a glioblastoma multiforme brain tumor?
Sometimes a combination of conventional and holistic therapies work better than either one alone (”complementary medicine”, although it’s not easy to find a doc who embraces both). Prayers and best wishes for your family!
You’re very welcome. God bless you both.
Prayers for your sister, all of your family, and you, as well.
My brother lost his wife to breast cancer through the same mistake. There are "cancer centers" throughout the country where the care provided is not based on any sort of science. One wonders how these "hospitals" get licensed...
Prayers for your sister, your mother and family are on the way. Keep the faith, all will be as it should be.

PS My father died of cancer when he was 53, my Mother died of cancer at 60, my eldest brother died of cancer, my next oldest brother has so far survived cancer as have I. I was 53 when diagnosed and am currently 68. I know what you are going through.
Prayers up.
May God hold her in the palm of His hand.
Prayers for her. But in case the worst happens, and before she is unable to answer, ask her who got her onto that seldom successful regimen that may end up shortening her life.
And sue the pants off of them.
