Book Barometer Misleading Says Obama Campaign
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 25 Aug 2012 | John Semmens

Posted on 08/27/2012 11:57:39 AM PDT by John Semmens

Statistics on book sales at Amazon show that conservative titles are out-selling liberal titles by a 56% to 44% margin. Fearing that this may create the impression that conservative ideas are winning, Obama campaign adviser David Axelrod cautioned that “we not leap to unwarranted conclusions based on these numbers.”

“Reading is an activity favored by intellectually curious and verbally oriented people,” Axelrod argued. “This is neither a majority of the population nor a strong Democratic demographic. It does not represent the sizable contingent of persons who respond emotively to more pictographic stimuli.”

Axelrod pointed out that “since the more viscerally inclined segments of the population that have been the foundation of the Democratic Party’s base do not buy or read books we are not surprised by the Amazon data. We are confident that come election day this vastly larger cohort will overwhelm the much smaller group of GOP eggheads represented by these statistics.”

Not only that, it discriminates against Holder’s people, many of whom cannot read.

So, he saying the “majority” of Americans and primarily democrats are too stupid and not intellectually curious enough to read? Did I get this right?

Aha - I see now. First time I’ve even been burned by a satire site.

The really sad part is that Axelrod and the dems seem to be proud of that statement. We have fallen far from the days when the American Dream was to work hard and suceed, having a chicken in every pot, to ‘gimme some medical pot’.

It's not that dims don't try to read, but the physical labor of reading tends to tire them a great deal, what with the lip movement, and the blinding headaches that come with the effort.

Besides, all the ideas they have are fed to them by MSNBC. There is very little effort expended in personal research of dim policy, so that emotional and politically correct responses can be regurgitated on demand.

It does not represent the sizable contingent of persons who respond emotively to more pictographic stimuli.

Coming soon. Picture ballots. Followed by a Supreme Court ruling on the use of Photoshop and implants in unfairly influencing elections. Idiocracy days away.

Me too again. Although, distinguishing satire is getting more and more difficult given the current reality. The market for comedy and satire must be shrinking.

re: “It does not represent the sizable contingent of persons who respond emotively to more pictographic stimuli.”

In other words, our constituency is made up of morons who cannot read and respond only to emotional stimuli through whatever cartoon image we spew out to slander the truth or the opposition’s point of view.

John, maybe “emotional pictographic stimuli” is Care Bears comics?

Great satire as usual.

In a mere half century, the Democratic Party has gone from being the “party of the working class” to “the party of the shirking class”.

Yep, Axelrod, Ann Coulter pretty much summed it up in her "Demonic". The democrats base their power on mobs who respond to strong visual images and don't have the capacity for logical thought. They respond to posters and slogans, not reason.

It is amazing, however, given the absolute strangehold that liberals have over academia that the liberal hope for this election is that "Our folks don't read". It explains the dismal results of public education - why Johnny can't read. The Dems would prefer he didn't!
