Romney Camp Removing Rules Committee Members
FreedomWorks.org ^ | August 28, 2012 | Michael Duncan

Posted on 08/28/2012 10:24:54 AM PDT by CedarDave

I just got off the phone with a concerned Florida activist, Laura Noble, who informed me that both of Florida's Rules Committee members, Peter Feaman and Kathleen King, have been removed from the Rules committee and replaced with Romney-appointed delegates.

Clearly anticipating a grassroots backlash against the "compromise" on Rule 15 and the changes on Rule 12 has caused the Romney camp to preemptively replace delegates to ensure they have support on the Rules Committee.

It's enough to make your blood boil. Please call your state's Rules Committee delegates here and ask that they oppose the "compromise" on Rule 15, oppose the changes to Rule 12, and support the full Minority Reports on the Rules.

UPDATE: Delegations we should be focusing on include the following states: North Carolina, Oregon, Indiana, Ohio, Nebraska, Kansas, Arkansas, Tennessee, and West Virginia.

I have no idea what the rules are for rule committee members. They are making a mistake if they try to railroad changes, even if the rules allow stacking the rules committee.

They can't change any convention rules unless the delegates on the floor vote the changes. What is the mix on the floor?

Can somebody explain why these rule changes are so important? I don't get it. Why should I care if certain delegates are on some committee, and others aren't? Does it actually matter? Romney's the candidate, Ryan's the Veep nominee, so what's the point of the rest of this stuff?

I'm not trying to be argumentative -- I honestly don't get it. Exactly who are these people being removed, and who put them in those places to be removed in the first place?

“Anyway, looks like I might have some company in the third party vote line.”

You and me both. I’ve been leaning Constitution party since Bloody Thursday, but have been holding out the hope Romney can win me back to the Republicans. That hope has all but faded now. If the conservative movement insists on living entirely within thus corrupt party, then we give them the power to destroy us. That’s a power not even the most radical leftist Democrat President has.

*sheepish* I engaged in too much rhetoric. I also have every intention of voting for Virgil Goode.

Deceit and desperation by the GOP-e.

These idiots are fighting the wrong battle.

Where are the "don't give 0bama a vote by not supporting Romney" now when the GOP are disenfranchising the conservative core of the party?

“Can somebody explain why these rule changes are so important?”

The establishment is setting the table for the next election. They’re creating a system where the nomination, political agenda, and platform building process will be completely and entirely under the control of a small number of party insiders - thus eliminating the influence of movements like the Tea Party. We can vote and march all day long, but at the end of the day the establishment types will pick the winners and set the political agenda with these changes.

“So who is it here that keeps saying “we’ll deal with Romney later?” No. You will not. Behold the dismantling of Conservatism. More simply put ... “told ya”.”

Yes, this is Romney/Bain brain at work. Dump the workers you don't want, and put your own people in those jobs, then you control the whole group of people. He wants control of the rules and he will get it by underhanded deception, but he is a successful business man - how do you think he did that? The same way he is trying to take over this rules committee.

Those supporting Romney put together a false image of him in their brain - they needed a savior from Hussein and put a halo above Romney because they wanted to. A vision is not real. Romney is a vision to those people and the vision just started melting away.

The partner of Soros, Mr. RomneyCARE smells the blood
of conservatives — and his vicious Team are all

It’s patriotic for the GOP to do the same crap to conservatives they say Obama will.

Makes perfect sense to support our own demise....

Unintended good-thing consequences will come of this. For decades social conservatives and smaller-govt conservatives have taken solace that they had some influence at the convention in building the platform. Which, as we all know, is pretty much useless as the part all but ignores the platform after the convention. Maybe now those groups will spend more time focusing on things that matter: getting people who share their principles elected.

Roger that - until folks stop plaing "the game" we are doomed. The only question so far is when we reach the point of no return.

It's all about the future of the party and keeping those upstart Tea Party supporters from upsetting the GOP-e apple cart.

Going forward it gives the national party apparatus control over delegate selection, front-loading of early primaries (winner takes all vs. proportional) and freedom to change rules between party conventions. All designed to minimize grassroots conservatives from having much influence.

It isn't about Ron Paul (though its convenient to blame him), but about a future candidate who is at odds with the GOP establishment.

Mr. McDaniel,

I am supporting Romney and the GOP with a healthy suspicion based on our candidates very moderate past. I support the Tea Party agendas for conservative goevernance and believe their influence is URGENTLY needed in the GOP today. We really need Obama out and I expect Romney to make good on his campaign promises.

I have been dissappointed in our party in the last decade as the conservative values adopted and re-established by Reagan have steadily declined to the point of spurring a genuine conservative grass roots activism apparent in the Tea Party Movement.

I emphatically urge you to not accept rules changes that would silence the conservative influence that is rallying this nation and the GOP back to improve our great nation. The voters are taking some control over the governance of this nation. Establishment politicians have done plenty of damage. We need visionary patriots with America’s core values at heart and her future in mind to be governing to conservative standards.

The Rule 15 compromise and other rule changes are a slap in the face to the Tea Party and its supporters.

I and my family will register as Independents and consider our options if Romney’s rule changes go into effect.

Please share this e-mail with your colleagues. I may be but one voter. But the Tea Party and its supporters are watching VERY CAREFULLY these days.

Sincerely,

I’m glad I’m not the only one in the dark. The only reason for replacing that I see, is to stop the Paultards. Fox is saying half the covention is screaming RON PAUL and half is screaming MITT ROMNEY. I also heard Paul will not releae his delegates. Like I said yesterday, now is the time for a united front. Not infighting. Paul lost. They need to get over it and move on.
