The NRA released on Tuesday an ad that accuses Obama of being an "elitist hypocrite," because he provides armed protection for his children but insists that the nation's schools remain "gun-free zones."
The video is part of the NRA's offensive dubbed "Stand and fight," in response to its anticipation of Obama's announcement of stricter gun control measures. According to Boston.com, the 35-second video posted to YouTube by user HotWeirdNews, also appeared on the NRA's website on Tuesday. However, the video was removed from the NRA's website by Wednesday morning. The ad begins with a shot of a school, the American flag and a voice-over, saying "Are the president's kids more important than yours?" The narrator continues: "Then why is he skeptical about putting armed security in our schools when his kids are protected by armed guards at their schools?" The ad then shows images featuring President Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Senator Dianne Feinstein, while the narrator says: "Mr Obama demands the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes. But he's just another elitist hypocrite when it comes to a fair share of security." It ends with the argument that the "elitist hypocrites" (aka Obama, Biden, Bloomberg and Feinstein) are providing "protection for their kids, but gun-free zones for ours." Media reactions Boston.com reports that the White House has responded to the NRA video, describing it as "repugnant and cowardly." The majority of comments on YouTube are critical of the ad, pointing out that Malia and Sasha, being children of the president, are vulnerable....

The ad was stupid. Look it doesn’t matter what the intent was. As soon as you go after the President’s children or just mention them you are going to get beat up in the press. You might not like the reality, you may disagree with it. The only question I have is, like all advertising, does it help or hurt your brand? Look at the polling on the issues. Why a month after the tradegedy are the numbers still going up for additional regulation? Why are the republicans considered extreme by the majority of Americans? The NRA has come off as extremist uncompromising fools. They defiantly need a new PR firm.
The point is it does not matter if you are right if you lose the battle. As my dad said when I started driving “ be right, but, don’t be dead right.”
You think the press won’t beat up on the NRA if they just get warm and fuzzy eh? lol

Better look at the polls again. 60 percent ban assault weapons and no I don’t know what an assault weapon is either. 85 percent want background checks.

You miss the point. You may feel better by using his kids and you may think it is fair game but that is not the point at all. How is it playing? Polling shows we are losing ground. Do you think this will help?

Remember day 1, they attacked the NRA.
When the NRA was completely silent for a week, they were attacking the NRA for not making a comment.
Then when the NRA did comment, it was, “OMG, it’s the one week anniversary!”
Then just last week NRA said something, and once again, “OMG, it’s the one month anniversary!”
You are delusional if you think anything other than full capitulation would make them popular. And when you puss out and back down, people start to think you have no valid points to make. The way to fix bad numbers is to attack with both barrels, not to try to be liked. Thats a fools errand.
It’s you missing the point. When Obama is ruthless, personal, and relentless in the attacks, and we stand there respectfully, people think we have no point to make. People hate a weak response and think the weakness of the response proves the weakness of our position.
A balls out no hold barred attack is what Obama needs. And it’s also the only thing that makes him come unhinged.
Playing rational and nice in hopes of being liked is stupid when our nation does it to the Moslems, and it’s just as stupid when we try it in national politics.

AGREED. AGREED! AGREED!!!
Those of us who support the second amendment need to slow the process down and make our arguments - write our legislators, call our legislators and attend events this weekend. Be seen, be heard, be energized. Gun owners represent a voting block of tens of millions of people that mostly don't vote for Democrats. Most liberal politicians may not like us but they sure don't want us aroused.
The fact that leftist journalists have now lied about there being private armed security guards, not just Secret Service agents, at a certain up scale DC private school shows that the NRA has made their point. One of the criticisms of the NRA in the immediate wake of the Sandy Hook massacre was that the had gone to ground. The NRA is now doing what I pay my dues to have them do, present our side's argument - loudly.
I disagree with you, that is fine we will see what happens in the end. I am not advocating copitulation. I am advocating being involved. The yelling from the sidelines seem to be costing us. The fiscal
Cliff being the obvious example.
Bob Beckel seemed to think that because the Sidwell Friends school is supposedly run by Quakers that there couldn’t possibly be guns there. I read that there are 11 armed guards at the school besides the Secret Service. I would like to get the message to Mr. Beckel.
