"John Laigaie III of Bellingham, a retired Army master sergeant, lays out the revolvers and rifles he and two other friends purchased on the periphery of the Seattle Police Department's gun buy back event in Downtown Seattle, Saturday January 26, 2013. Laigaie and his friends are advocates of gun rights, and affiliated with the website opencarry.org. They spent approximately $500 on the lot, which they estimate to have a value of near $2,000. Many independent gun buyers and sellers on the periphery of the official buy back were helped by long wait times and Seattle Police closing the line to the buy back hours early after running out of Amazon gift cards to exchange for firearms."

More activists are learning to use political judo at these events. They obtain some nice firearms for a reasonable price, and the media shows the silliness of destroying valuable property.

Third from left looks like a classic Ruger 10/22.

Third from the right looks like an Arisaka. Probably an old war trophy.

I think there is a straight magazine extending out of the bottom of that one. It doesn’t look like the extended magazines of my 10/22 that are curved. The standard one is flush.

Didn’t blow up the image, I couldn’t see a magazine on my screen.
Hmm.

“Third from left looks like a classic Ruger 10/22.”

I don’t think so. I do recognize a Model 94 leveraction with action open. The other leveraction is actually a single shot .22 as I recall made by Ithaca. With the exception of the single action revolver which i cant tell if it is a Colt and maybe the model94 it looks like a load of junk.

Actually it looks more like my winchester 69a bolt action with 5 rnd mag than my 10/22 with folding stock

Nah, looks like someone’s been scuba diving on that lake where everyone’s canoes keep tipping over.

Just blew up the image.
Image quality is crap.
But it has an odd front sight.
And it’s old.

They wanted only ‘working’ guns. There is no reason that people can’t turn in old rusty pieces of crap that ‘work’ so to speak. Get the money then invest it buying more ammo.

Nice of them to specify working guns.
Guess they don’t want to be embarrassed by people turning in inert AT-4 tubes.

At the site, there is a photo album link.

Unfortunately, some of the rifles in the police stack have metal butt plates on them. There were probably some good C&R military rifles turned in by Seattle idiots that didn’t know what they had.

Looks like a Mossberg 22 cal that I cut my teeth on some half a century ago. Still have it, still accurate as any modern 10/22. Note the forearm, it is hinged to drop down to become a handle.

“Looks like a Mossberg 22...]

Looks like these gun buybacks are like the best city-sponsored “Gun Shows” going these days. People want to sell, and you already know what they are willing to sell them for.

Are the cops razzing any of the private buy-backers?

I’m in the market for some weaponry, so I’ll be keeping my eyes out for any gun buybacks in the greater Cleveland area. City-sponsored gun shows, that’s what I’ll call them!

The law of unintended consequences never cease to amaze me.

“The other lever action is actually a single shot .22 as I recall made by Ithaca.”

I think you are right. Growing up that is what I used - easily outshot my friends with their semiautos! Br brother has it now.

I will need to look for the next gun buy-back program and look into this idea. Any way that I can help get these guns out of the hands of ner-do-wells and into the hands of a law abiding citizen!
