NJ Senator Mounts His Own Defense
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 2 Feb 2013 | John Semmens

Posted on 02/03/2013 10:58:31 AM PST by John Semmens

Under a new wave of criticism related to his overseas sexcapades, Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) rose to his own defense insisting that “everything I”m alleged to have done has been within my rights under the law.”

The claim that he has illegally and immorally consorted with underage prostitutes in the Dominican Republic is “without merit,” Menendez said. “There is a saying—when in Rome, do as the Romans do. Well, in the Dominican Republic, prostitution is not illegal. I was within my rights to engage in a transaction that is perfectly legal under that country’s law. That I should be hounded here in America shows disrespect for both me and the sovereign nation of the Dominican Republic.”

“Likewise, the implication that the young age of the ladies involved somehow constitutes a sort of ‘statutory rape’ offense is absurd,” the Senator complained. “Girls in other countries don’t lead the kind of sheltered lives they do in America. They mature a lot faster. They have to if they are to make a living. That I may have employed a few of them helped contribute to their efforts to support themselves. I deserve credit, not censure.”

Menendez also asserted that as a member of Congress he has immunity from charges of this sort. “Even if New Jersey law were applicable, which it is not, prostitution is only a misdemeanor,” he pointed out. “Under the Constitution, members of Congress are ‘privileged from arrest’ except for ‘treason, felony and breach of the peace.’ My breach of a piece in a foreign country clearly fits within this privilege.”

A poll of New Jersey voters indicates that the Senator is in no trouble as far as the majority of them are concerned. “What he does in the privacy of some whorehouse is none of my business,” said one respondent. “His job is to bring federal money back to New Jersey. As long as he does that he’s got my vote.”

Federal sex tourism laws prohibit the traveling to a foreign country to have sex with someone under 18 regardless of the laws of that country or even regardless of the age of consent in various US states.

Wonder when they will impose similar laws to prosecute those heading to Amsterdam or Vancouver to smoke the weed.

Remember how the liberal media got all excited with reports about Rush Limbaugh’s activities in the Bahamas?

But like Menendez, excused Bill Clinton’s toking outside the US?

He doesn't need a defense. He's a DEMOCRAP- (Harrison Williams, Torch Torricelli, McGreevey, Spitzer, Weiner, Stained Blue Dress President, Vast Right Wing conspiracy Secretary of State, etc.)

The sad thing is that this satire is really what Menendez and liberals believe.

You have to admit, sometimes it’s difficult to tell the difference between satire and actual statements by Menendez in his own defense.

Whatever happened to that beauty of Obama’s that was sent off to the Caribbean? Did she disappear also?

I read it through and did NOT think “Semmens”, then eventually as always happens with your semi-satire,
a number of respondents seemed to be taking it seriously,
and I instinctively checked back to the header.
I almost WISH Menendez would mount this kind of defense,
which would be equivalent of taking the Clinton Defense
several steps further, 15 years after Monica.
But Clinton knew he could get away with it because his personal appeal and the “secret knowledge” tucked way back in the minds of the American electorate that his marriage to Hillary was perenially “troubled”, softened their ultimate judgement of him.More sympathy flowed to both him and Hillary than any two political sleazeballs could ever have
deserved, which led me to believe that the entire “prosecution” of Clinton was ill-advised and counterproductive.
This narrative line and the words you put in Menendez’s mouth pretty much capture the rationale they’d LIKE to present to the public, and what they actually believe.
Menendez, however, is much more expendable than Clinton to
the Democratic Party, so I think ultimately he may not skate on this. It’s hard to predict the ultimate disposition of these charges, but they hang over the other “less serious” ones exactly like Clinton’s. What Clinton did in the Oval Office with Monica is equal to what Menendez did in the DR
with teen-aged prostitutes. At the core of it all is the Dem
sense of “entitlement”—— during the period he was using young prostitutes in DR,Menendez “crusaded” against prostitution in Cuba, just as Clinton pretended to be THE
defender of “women’s rights” against his Philistine opponents, Ken Starr and the Republicans. Dems don’t see any
hypocrisy in this: from Clinton to Ted Kennedy to Eliot Spitzer to Menendez (with countless examples in between)
they are “entitled” to do what they will with specific girls and young women BECAUSE they’ve wrapped themselves in the mantle of crusading for “ALL” women on the political stage.

The turd will get away with it because there will be no witnesses. Just as the Benghazi survivors have been well secreted to avoid testifying. Do you think these RATS were born yesterday? They are masters of deceit.
