Fox News Declares Ted Cruz Ineligible To Be POTUS Due To Birth In Canada [American Mother]

Now we are finally getting somewhere. Just like Obama is ineligible technically because his fathers British Nationality 'governed' his birth status in 1961, Ted Cruz is ineligible too. Fox News has confirmed it and rightly so. Sean Hannity made a huge blunder the other day and declared Ted Cruz a natural born citizen because he was born to a American mother in Canada. He was so wrong. Cruz is a 14th Amendment U.S. 'statutory' (not natural born) citizen which is something completely different than a Article 2 Section 1 Constitutional natural born Citizen which is explicitly designed only for the presidency by the framers.

Yes indeed. Team players. The other team.

"The other team."

Now this is interesting.

Here I am, arguing that yes, TED CRUZ, one of the brightest and most promising conservatives out there, is eligible to be President of the United States.

And here you are, arguing as hard as you can against conservative Ted Cruz.

And I'm supposed to be a member of the "other team."

Wow.

But beyond that, I'm arguing for the Constitution, as I have done SINCE DAY ONE.

And since day one, you have argued an interpretation of that Constitution that has no significant authority in the whole of US history behind it. Past, present or future. Conservative or otherwise.

And you think you're the "Constitutionalist."

It just boggles the mind.

>> “There is nothing novel about my ideas. The novel idea is that George Washington wasn’t considered a NBC of the USA.” <<

.
Not a novel idea, but a fact deduced by a clear reading of the constitution:

[5] No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President

.
If a “Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution” and a natural born citizen were one and the same, there would not have been any point in mentioning the former at all.

You shame yourself.

I’ve been here since Aug 1998, almost as long as you, and have 18,272+ posts on a variety of subjects.

You can call me a troll if you want, but it will only make you look stupid. And editor-surveyor, if you cannot read a court case, then kindly shut the hell up. Calling people trolls is what stupid people do when they have no argument.

Long on words, short on sources. You know full well who has been recognized for over 150 years as the first NBC President, and it wasn’t George Washington.

Okay, I’m going to put a self-imposed limit on this.

Obviously, the birthers are absolutely committed to live their entire lives in fairy tales and fantasy.

But we knew that already.

My weekend is ending, and I’m going to end my participation in this thread in one hour.

Any birthers have a chance to make any parting arguments during that hour. Or maybe in the next 45 minutes, so I have time to respond. Because I have better things to do.

Please, of a courtesy, also make your insults, name calling, ad hominem attacks, baseless assertions, twistings of quotes, etc., during that time frame as well.

Thank you.

You most assuredly are a member of the terrorist’s team, and your little Ted Cruz diversion proves it beyond a shadow of doubt. Constitutionalists do not wish to piss on the constitution just to elect an attractive unqualified candidate.

“If a “Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution” and a natural born citizen were one and the same, there would not have been any point in mentioning the former at all.”

But then, if you were capable of basic reading, you would see that I never said they were “one and the same”. In fact, I made it excruciatingly clear they differ. And how do they differ? Well, a “citizen” includes both those who are citizens by birth, and those who are citizens by naturalization - such as Alexander Hamilton. Have you heard of him? He worked very hard to help get the Constitution adopted...

The grandfather clause allowed those who were not born in the USA, but who had fought in the Revolution, to hold the office of President - if elected.

“Heck, I think even you know that all the birth on us soil PLUS two citizen parent stuff is just complete BS.”

Why is it BS?

Good, now that you’ve totally lost the debate, it’s no surprise that you’re slipping out like the wounded rattlesnake that you are.

I’ve cited court cases from the time. You have cited...nothing. Nothing at all.

I’ve pointed out the difference between citizen and NBC. You have ignored that difference. You, sir, are an idiot.

“Why is it BS?”

Because it has NEVER been the standard used. There is no court case upholding that idea, and there are multiple cases rejecting it. Because a case in 1898 gave a very long-winded review of the legal history, and utterly rejected the idea that 2 citizen parents meant squat all in US law.

My daughter was born in the USA to a Filipino mother and American father, and she has documented citizenship in both countries.

Is she a natural born citizen, a citizen, or dual citizen?

A guy I work with is Greek, married to a Greek. They have two kids born in the USA. Neither kid is allowed to speak English. Both have documented citizenship from Greece and the USA.

Same Question. Are they Natural born, citizen, or dual?

Dear moron Rogers,

Your explanation ignores the logical fact that there could not be a “natural born” citizen of a country that did not yet exist.

You want our constitution destroyed so intensely that you throw logic out at the first step.

You have listed folks who are natural born citizens. “Born in the USA”. And assuming the parents were here legally, then the children meet the criteria for what was once called a natural born subject, and now is called a natural born citizen.

You will notice that Rev Wright and Bill Ayers are also both NBCs, although both are also anti-American assholes.

The US Constitution has no prohibition on dual citizens becoming President. It also has no infallible test of loyalty to America...

Why do you keep repeating this lie?

Because you are a traitor, pure and simple. You’re a goat in the herd of sheep. You’re a Judas.

You disgust me intensely.

“Your explanation ignores the logical fact that there could not be a “natural born” citizen of a country that did not yet exist.”

If you would read the court cases from the early 1800s, you would see that all subjects became citizens, and thus all NBS became NBC. It is your rather insane idea that everyone who stayed in America needed naturalization to become a US citizen that is weird. Very weird. And completely unsupported by any legal citation or argument.

But then, it seems you are better at calling names that citing evidence.

I cited the constitution, that would not have been written in the manner in which it was if anything you hold to be true were.

The framers were not morons like you seem to assume.

The feces that you manufacture is not evidence.

But we surely do hate it, because we love our constitution.
