Palin/Bachman 2016. Unbeatable ticket?
Free Republic ^ | 3/26/13 | Mr.K

Before Newt Gingrich and the GOP try to peddle this insanely ridiculous "Reince Revolution" baloney (seriously- with a straight face he said that????) I would like to get out front with what I think would be an UN-BEATABLE ticket in 2016

Palin/Bachman

They would get ALL the GOP vote and at least half the Women's vote from Democrats.

Plus they would SPEAK THE TRUTH instead of GOP-approved pablum, and -like when Ronald Reagan spoke the truth- the PEOPLE WOULD LOVE IT

If have nothing against eith Palin or Bachmann, but you’re living in a serious Conservative bubble if you think that a Palin-Bachmann ticket would win or that Democrat female voters would defect to the GOP to vote for that ticket.

Michelle Bachman is not an effective national candidate.

Her public speaking is just atrocious.

She sounds like a preprogrammed robot.

First Bachmann... how did she do during the primaries last time? She was an early exit.

Palin... Much as I like her (watched her stump speech in Richmond in ‘08), she’s way too (albeit unfairly) politically damaged.

Besides... look at the demographics that are taking shape throughout this country... please tell me how you could conclude they’re trending in a favorable direction for conservatives?

If the Democrats run Biden and the Republicans find another Reagan (someone not listed in your ticket) then maybe, just maybe, the Republicans could win the White House one last time.

Most likely the only chance conservatives have is another party so they can differentiate themselves from Democrats.

Since something is difficult to do, in your apparent opinion, it shouldn’t be attempted.
Your attitude is why we lose elections and have idiots like Willard at the top of the ticket.

What? I think your attitude of kowtowing and appeasing is why we've lost elections.

I'm a realist. The border has not been secured...in any way, shape or form. That's a fact. Any attempt to ever do so has been met with - from BOTH sides - attacks of racism, cost prohibitive, etc.

My wanting the current immigration laws enforced..and NOT what Paul is recycling, er, proposing...is NOT what got Willard on the ticket. Attitudes like yours ARE the reason we got Willard and, subsequently, lost elections.

I’ve never even heard of him. No way most of Americans have.

How many people had heard of Obama before he ran? Maybe we need a stealth candidate of our own?

Democrats are stupid. Obama was/is black and could speak like an educated person. Republicans have a different standard. Obama also gave the speech at the DNC.

I hate to sound negative, but I bet our next candidate will be Jeb Bush or Chris Christie.

That's the 2016 Whig ticket right there - 90% certain. There remains a 10% chance Rick Perry will be the VP instead, since Texas will likely be in play by then. The likes of Rubio and various GOP governors are going to have to wait their turn. Paul, Cruz, Palin, Bachman, Cain, West, and other conservative heroes will never be allowed to get anywhere close to the nomination.

Remember: the people only think they are electing a President. In reality, the central banks are hiring a regional administrator. They were obviously happy with the job their man Barack has been doing - the only question is, will they feel they can trust Jeb more than Hillary or Cuomo?

Fuggeddaboutit. We hit the tipping point and went right on over.

From now on GOP tickets will, ideologically, look like Democrat tickets from the 90s. Don’t want to think what Democrat tickets will look like. It says a lot about this country that JFK was probably to the right of both parties.

As for attracting females, Democrat females believe that Republican ladies are not really “female.”

Who would NOT vote for this ticket.

Lots of nominal and "moderate" Republicans - especially women. And we'd win almost no one to offset those losses. Democrats and left leaning indies are not going to cross over to vote for Palin/Bachman. Palin is too damaged and, outside of conservative circles, a bit of a joke at this point. I like Bachman a lot but, lets face it, she proved last election cycle that she is not a viable national candidate. She never recovered from her screeching and dopey comments over the HPV vaccine.

How about Jeb Bush?

I think we are more likely to see candidates like Rubio, Rand, Walker, Jindal, Christie, etc. The Bush brand is still dirt, Jeb will have to wait another cycle or two and even then enough time may not have passed.

As someone else said, if you believe Palin/Bachman would be an "unbeatable" ticket you are living in a conservative bubble with little understanding of the outside world.

If it’s Jeb vs. Hillary, I’m moving to Iceland. They’re Socialists, but at least their cities aren’t filled with violent scum. I’d rather live in the Arctic Circle than live in nice weather with DeMarcus and Quannell.

You are insane to believe the GOPE will ever allow a conservative on the ticket. It will be Jed Bush vs Hillary.

We are screwed either way.

I’m stunned that anybody can still believe the GOP will allow conservatives after all we have been through. I don’t know if those people are hopeless optimists or just not very smart.

*sigh* is there ANYONE on this site anymopre who can disagree/discuss/debate WITHOUT name calling?

I am NOT insane for thinking Palin/Bahman would be a good ticket (the voices tell me so) and I would rather hear WHY you think this group or that group would NOT vote for this ticket, not your opinion on my mental health.

I start with the following premise- this ticket would get ALL the GOP vote, especially recharged conservatives, and then MANY Dem women. But primarily because it is an all-woman ticket.

So... that’s over 51% right there.

My wanting the current immigration laws enforced...

Which, if you actually read what Rand said is exactly what he's purposing. Along with cutting off the current flow of bennies to illegals and stopping the influx by beefing up border security.

I stand corrected, not just your attitude... But your willful IGNORANCE is why we lose elections.
