Suppression of free speech at the WSJ
vanity | 6-21-13 | me, EVA

Posted on 06/21/2013 11:44:23 AM PDT by Eva

I have had my posting privileges cut off at the WSJ.

The help desk admits that it is a case of partisan censorship and have asked me to plead my case to the WSJ Community Board.

First, the moderator accused me of not being who I said I was, then he said that I used offensive language. I saved a copy of that post to prove that the most offensive word in the post was, pregnant. Then he demanded that I complete a personal profile, giving out my place of employment and email address. I told them that I was retired. They said, fill in your husband's information. I refused, told them that my comments had nothing to do with him or his job.

The woman at the help desk said that my case has been taken to upper management and that people at the WSJ were pulling for me to get this settled in my favor, that the Wall Street Journal does not work this way, but that I would have to explain the situation to the WSJ Community Board. The help desk admitted that this was a case of partisan censorship much like what went on at the IRS, that the moderator had no right to cut off my posting privileges just because he doesn't agree with my opinions.

I suspect that this censorship and effort to gain access to my personal information is related to my political activity and opposition to the coal terminal in Whatcom County.

We were harassed for a year by union members who are supporting the terminal and we finally got that stopped and they are taking a new tack.

WSJ has had the same left/islam slide as so many quisling media outlets.

Good for you in standing up to the jerks on that board.

I heard a little about the coal terminal and wondered why anyone wanted it when there’s a perfectly serviceable coal terminal just across the border at Tsawwassen. Oh, wait, that’s because a Democrat-supporting union doesn’t have any jobs there thus they want to redundantly mess up more of the environment just so more union dues can be collected.

More proof that the liberals are unmitigated hypocrites when they talk about the environment.

Was the help desk conversation over e-mail or phone? It would be interesting to see e-mails of a rep admitting it is because you are a conservative.

The Wall Street Journal is another Trojan Horse pro-fascism, pro-Globalism organ.

I suspect that this censorship and effort to gain access to my personal information is related to my political activity and opposition to the coal terminal in Whatcom County. We were harassed for a year by union members...

Thank you for your righteous opposition to the Commie-Fascists' plan, its Union Brownshirts run amok, and also for exposing the Wall Street Journal as a Left-Infested subversive org.

It’s a privately owned website. they are free to post and delete whatever they wish, much in the same way freerepublic does. It’s sad they are so transparently left, but they are free to do so. Just as we are free to stop supporting their site/paper.

There’s a lot of this going around. The iHub discussion board about Calypso Wireless has been taken over by a moderator who SCREAMS INSULTS ALL DAY at a former company officer. Any board member who criticizes this is deleted. The board has become worthless.

opposition to the coal terminal in Whatcom County

Over here in eastern WA some of us are a little nervous about seemingly endless coal trains blocking streets at crossings with no budget for overpass/underpasses in sight. I personally would not be affected much but many commuters would.

It was a phone conversation with the help desk. The woman that I was talking to told me that my issue had already received the attention of the higher ups at the Journal and that there were a lot of people there who were on my side. She told me to keep fighting them.

I thought that the best way to fight it was to spread the word that the leftist censors are active at the WSJ, just like at the IRS. I encourage anyone who has a digital subscription to the WSJ to please send a message of support and complaint about suppression of conservative opinion at the WSJ.

Actually, anyone can send a comment about the censorship to Journalcommunity@wsj.com

“Sorry Comrade but you have been deemed an enemy of peace and freedom so you may no longer post at WSJ. Now please go away.” There does that about sum it up?

I get emails and offers in the mail from the WSJ practically begging me to subscribe. I used to like the WSJ. It was a good source of information.

Has it now become just one more politically correct MSM propaganda rag?

Most of the problems with Obama’s Big Government can be traced to the unionization of the federal workforce, but this time it is the private sector unions that are at fault.

Well, that is not exactly true. They have what they call Community Rules and banning a poster is supposed to be related to community rules. So, they claimed that I violated two of the rules. They claimed that I am not who I say I am and asked me to post personal information for public access. When it was verified that I am who I say I am, they said that I used offensive language, but I had saved the post that they were referring to and there was nothing offensive in the post.

Oh, no, the guy that banned me won’t respond. He just told the others that I was posting under a fake name and that I used violent or offensive language, both of which were obvious lies.

At least the powers are listening to you. I got booted from a message board about books but it had a political board. The webmaster there was a lefty who hated my opinions. Her bosses didn’t care she booted me for no valid reason.

It is not just suppressing my free speech, they wanted my personal information. We don’t have the paper delivered to our home address because we don’t have mail delivery at home. The unions have been trying to get our home address for two years. One time they had someone call me, saying that they were from 1 800 Flowers and that they had flowers to deliver to me if I would give them my street address. They said that they had Juan, Miguel and Mateo standing by, ready to make the delivery.

Good afternoon Eva. I’ve been on WSJ for over a decade and see high intensity on both sides. I personally have called some of the lefties fools and worse. What did you say?

The saddest part of this is that some of the Whatcom County Republicans are part of it. The county Republcans are supporting the coal terminal and many of the union supporters have worked their way into Precinct Captain positions, including the man whose father in law founded SSA, the company that is building the coal terminal. Crony capitalism is a bi-partisan effort with the Cherry Point Coal terminal.
