Leaving California! (VANITY)
Lilyramone

Posted on 07/14/2013 9:00:38 AM PDT by lilyramone

Sorry for the vanity post but I am just so excited to announce that my husband accepted a promotion in West Texas and we will be leaving liberal California at the end of August. God answered our prayers! We have been trying to leave for almost a year. My amazing husband leaves in nine days and the kids and I follow in a month. My seven year old asked if in Texas they wear their baseball caps the right way....enough said!

Congratulations from someone who just moved from hellhole Illinois to sunny Florida! I’m also excited that my vote will count for something now! I bet you will feel like you came to a different planet!

I wish you and your husband well in your new saner location and in his job. Be extra thankful if you have children.

That state is the penultimate example of liberal idiocy second only to this country having elected (twice) such an obvious tyrant.

I've got some bad news for you: depending upon their ages, your children are likely to be a year (or more) behind their new contemporaries.

Welcome to Texas! Been here 25 years, don't plan on ever leaving.

Good for you! I’m still stuck here in California for at least another year while younger kid finishes high school, but as soon as she’s done I’ve got Texas as one of my top choices for relocation.

May your move bring much happiness, contentment and success to your family.

Welcome to Texas!

West Texas, or West, Texas? Sorry, an old joke. I presume it's the former.

The landscape and climate in West Texas can be a bit bleak. But, there are some great opportunities here, and there is plenty of places to visit with a day's driving: the Hill Country, the Gulf Coast, the Piney Woods.

we stopped at a garage sale yesterday...they guy and his wife are retiring and moving to St. George Utah....he says he's a conservative Christian and just wants to be in a more solid area, even though where we live is pretty stable....

the theory is that many people will move when able to the kind of area that reflects their values...

then again, because those areas are peaceful and prosperous, the libs love to move there....they can't stand to live in the cesspools they have created...

I homeschool my kids. The creepy California LGBT schooling laws, new stupid “gender identity” rights and the other 1000 public school problems had us pull them out after my son was in Kindergarten for only 3 months. He is now an entire grade ahead of kids his age and Texas homeschool laws are GREAT! Parents have power over the state....what a novel idea huh? /sarc

I’m envious. We’ve been stuck in the hellhole of SoCal for a couple of years and I’ve been looking for every opportunity to get out and move back to America.

Everyone here tells me how wonderful San Diego is, but what’s so great about $500k stucco crap boxes, five cars in front of every house, paved front yards for more parking, beggars on every corner, same weather every day, exorbitant taxation and regulation, and so many arrogant, rude, childish, and selfish people?

I left Kansas a couple years ago and am now in West Texas as well, in Midland (Bush’s hometown). You heading to Odessa/Midland or Lubbock?

It’s great here except for things growing so fast due to the oil boom that traffic is getting tough (nothing like CA though).

The people are great. We are hoping to move back to the Midwest, either KC or Indianapolis, to get less hot weather and four seasons again.....and a less desert climate.

But, economically, there is NO BETTER place in the nation right now. And coming from CA you probably are used to dry weather anyway. Even if we move, I will have fond memories of here.

Definitely a good move for you guys.

This is a good point. A lot of Texans are scared of all the Californians moving to Texas.

However, I recently saw a study that indicated most moving are more conservative than liberal.

The liberal Californians would in general refuse to move to TX no matter what, except....maybe.....Austin. But even that is questionable due to the hot weather. They will go to Denver.

Oh, we are not moving yet, just in the research stages. Indianapolis, Indiana appears to be one of the fastest-growing spots in the Midwest, and the house we could get there is insane.

I grew up in KS obviously per my name, but Wichita’s future is in doubt with aircraft, so we are looking at Kansas City.

We may move to Dallas as well because my wife needs a bigger job market for her nonprofit work than Midland has...lots here due to all the oil family foundations, but still not quite enough. But, it would still be hot there. The main reason we are looking to move is climate. She has a heat allergy, so it’s hard for her to stay out very long in summer....she gets heat rashes and can’t sweat hardly at all either.

Any move would not take place until next summer or later as I am a teacher though.

But, anybody moving to West Texas is making a good decision for their economic future. Lots of jobs. Just don’t expect trees and green....aside from cash. :)
