Snowden Asylum Irks Administration
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 2 Aug 2013 | John Semmens

Posted on 08/02/2013 10:03:28 PM PDT by John Semmens

Russia’s decision to grant a temporary one-year asylum to NSA whistle blower Edward Snowden was described as “unfortunate” and “extremely disappointing” by Presidential Press Secretary Jay Carney.

Carney contrasted “Russia’s uncooperative stance with FDR’s extraordinarily accommodating attitude toward the repatriation of millions of unwilling refugees from the Soviet Union after World War II. FDR knew that these refugees didn’t want to go back. Many faced torture, imprisonment in the Gulag, and execution. He could have balked for humanitarian reasons. But his personal sense of obligation to Stalin overrode his qualms.”

“Now with the roles reversed, Stalin’s heirs won’t even return one man to us,” Carney complained. “Where’s their sense of honor? We tried to make it easy on them by promising not to torture or kill Snowden. It’s as if they don’t trust us. It’s a slap in the face to the whole ‘reset button’ strategy initiated by this Administration.”

Gaining permission to remain in Russia is considered a major setback for the Obama Administration’s efforts to settle accounts with Snowden. It is one of the few places where the Administration would likely be reluctant to exercise its option to order him taken out via a drone strike. However, Snowden’s possible removal via covert extraction or assassination is an option that cannot be ruled out.

What happens after a year?

Nothing at all, unless Snowden wants to leave and is able to. He is one of most geniune asylum seekers. I think Snowden gets a job in Russia, marries, and after that why should he go anywhere? Any first world country will extradite him; he would be abducted from any 2nd and 3rd world country, even if he is willing to live in [squalor of] Venezuela. A well educated man with high IQ and talent for languages will have no problem finding a job in Russia, especially when there is political will to offer such a job to him.

If you say that he became a pawn... yes, he is a pawn now, moved here and there by high ranked players. What did he expect? Approval of his asylum application does not change that at all. He still could be abducted by the USA, or by affiliated groups, or even personally by Putin. The game goes on, and this pawn is still useful. He should be well aware of that.

Snowden is obviously ill, and must therefore be returned to the United States to receive state-mandated medical treatment administered by his Obamacare death panel.

Someone should suggest that the Just Us Department should file civil rights charges against Snowden. He’s obviously a racist because he has embarrassed O’Bama.

I wonder if we’re going to reset the reset button?

Well, we're certainly overcharging things with them [that's what the Russian word actually meant]...

If we had a real president, there wouldn’t have been any problems for Snowden to reveal in the first place.

Haven’t posted in a while. Wanted to come on and say that an obama boot licker called me an idiot not long ago when I said the government is using FB to spy on citizens. I wonder if he has read about the NSA. Probably has but still denies it. Talk about an idiot!
