Lake Mead Property Owners forced Out Until Shutdown Ends Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The government shutdown is being felt close to home for some locals. They say they're being forced out of private homes on Lake Mead because they sit on federal land.
Joyce Spencer is 77-years-old and her husband Ralph is 80. They've been spending most of their time in the family ice cream store since going home isn't an option.
The Spencers never expected to be forced out of their Lake Mead home, which they've owned since the 70s, but on Thursday, a park ranger said they had 24 hours to get out.
"I had to go to town today and buy Ralph undershirts and jeans because I forgot his pants," Joyce Spencer told Action News.

It is federal property. The taxpayer has no business owning vacation property.

I do not have a copy of the lease, as I do not need the federal government lease me a vacation property.
However, the article says the lease agreement states that it must be used as a vacation property, not a primary residence.
What would be wrong with selling off these federal lands?
Tell them politely to go f*** themselves and then close the door to your home. Then load your weapons and just wait.

Agreed, but the heavy and illegal hand of the government still rules. The fed is nowhere near "selling" the land to anyone. Do you get it yet? Do you know how much land "the government" OWNS? The "government" is NOT us. It's them, not us.

All that is necessary to know the condition you own your land,if you think have allodial,fee simple title,or fee tail title,is ask yourself one question. Is there a taximposed on the land you claim to own? If a tax is or can be levied,you DO NOT own the land,because if you fail to pay the tax,the land is reclaimed by the Corporation,by alienation,and reversion.
Best to claim you live on God Almighty’s land since He owns it all as the Creator... britain still gets our taxes.they claim ownership.. happy independence! Ha

The article doesn’t actually say that it must be used as a vacation property, not a primary residence.
It says “considered vacation homes; one of the lease requirements to own a plot is people must have an alternative residence.”
It doesn’t say if the Spencer’s have an alternative residence or not.
The government action os illegal and the county sheriff should jail those responsible.
Where in the heck are our county sheriffs?
My property taxes are higher than my mortgage.
