So are you saying none of them deserved it?

Having worked on a Division level staff as an officer, I'd have to say "no" none of them probably deserved it. When you're talking about such senior level officers these kinds of POGROMS are almost always political. The character defects that leads to a real issue like gambling or adultry or money problems or abuses of power usually show up in the mid level or lower level officer corps pretty early on. A buddy of mine who retired as an 05 (Lieutenant Colonel) of Special Forces called it "The Night of the Long Knives." You can bet these are the guys who would break the chain of command or disobey a direct order to shoot civilians. That's got to be the level we're speaking of here. It's follow the Man Who Would Be King or follow the Constitution because they're obviously not the same thing, now.
