CRISES IN CLIMATOLOGY
Watts Up With That? ^ | February 17, 2014 | Donald C. Morton

ABSTRACT

The Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released in September 2013 continues the pattern of previous ones raising alarm about a warming earth due to anthropogenic greenhouse gases. This paper identifies six problems with this conclusion – the mismatch of the model predictions with the temperature observations, the assumption of positive feedback, possible solar effects, the use of a global temperature, chaos in climate, and the rejection of any skepticism.

Excellent summary paper on today's state of climate science. Easy to read for the non-scientist while providing information for the more scientific to discuss in more detail.

His final statement sums up the state of climate science:
Is it time to admit that we do not understand climate well enough to know how to direct it?

As usual with Anthony Watt's blogs, reader comments provide much additional to reflect upon.

Are large farms of windmills, solar cells or collecting mirrors effective investments when we are unable to store energy?

Comment by a reader at another story posted today at "Watts Up with That":

Without large scale energy storage, which green energy enthusiasts constantly ignore, they are either stupid or their true intent is to disrupt economies and living standards through intermittent energy supply. They claim not to be stupid so the latter must be their true goal.
Oh Lord, there be idiots at Stanford

We have large wind farms in West Texas and Southern California. We also have extreme drought conditions in both areas. Can’t help but think that the two have to have something to do with one another.

Excellent article. Predictions vs reality will disprove global warming every time.

Not only do we not have an adequate understanding of the factors influencing the climate, we are projecting greenhouse effects without a good understanding of carbon sinks. Olivine in mantle rocks that have come to the surface seems a good way to mitigate any CO2 excesses. However, we have decided to dismantle our industrial society resulting in high death tolls and a stifling of freedom.

So lets write up this big issue...an inadequate understanding of factors that influence things in our life.

- Why can’t the Yankees win each and every year?
- Why can’t Pepsi beat Coke?
- Why can’t we come to a real bowl selection process for the NCAA football stuff?
- Why can’t we pump lousy oil from the Canadian border to some place in Missouri (unlike the 200 other oil pipelines that already exist)?
- Why can’t we get rid of the Senate because of their lack of work ethic?
- Why does CNN still continue to exist...if no one watches them?
- Why are NewsWeak and Time still publishing yet still valued at a dollar each?
- Why can’t The Undertaker ever beat Hulk Hogan?
- Why can’t we make a perfect everlasting septic tank, that never has to be dug up?
- Why can’t Cuba just dump Castro and go radical and hire Marco Rubio as their new dictator?
- Why can’t Hillary run an efficient and competent campaign in Iowa?
- And why can’t the University of Alabama just get a permanent championship bowl selection card?

Yes, we have a thousand things, which involve inadequate understanding...and this climatology is merely one of the thousand.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change celebrates 20 years of telling the same lie!

Great reading with very valid points as to what is wrong with the pseudo science.

http://www.aaas.org/page/workshop-us-nuclear-weapons-stockpile-management-summary-report

from the link:

On November 10, 2011, the Center for Science, Technology, and Security Policy at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAA S), the Hudson Institute Center for Political-Military Analysis and the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) hosted a workshop to discuss the future of the Department of Energy’s stockpile management program.1 The meeting was unclassified and off the record. To allow free discussion, it was carried out under the Chatham House Rule in which statements made during the meeting (such as those reported here) can be cited but not attributed to individual speakers.

*************************************************************

Wasn’t the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) - out of Chicago - an old Communist front organization? That would explain some of this...
