But Mark Levin wants a convention so he can promote his socialist flat tax which he now does with one of his “liberty amendments”.

A flat tax calculated from incomes, even if “flat”, does absolutely nothing to remove the iron fist of our federal government from the necks of America’s hard working productive citizens and business owners.

The Fair Tax is evil and socialist? Dude, you're nuts.

To be fair, he is not addressing the Fair Tax, he is addressing the Flat tax.

I am for the excise tax.

I was being generic. Fair Tax/Flat Tax/whatever...

Helluva lot better than 74,000 pages of IRS Tax Code we have now.

If liberals hate it, it must be good.

Maybe. But I think it's more of a "Don't throw me into that briar patch!" deal. A constitutional convention is russian roulette as far as I am concerned. The right is losing election after election due to voter fraud, bait-n-switch RINO politicians and so on. Who is to say that Obama doesn't pack the convention like he packed the Texas primaries.

And in any case, if we can't enforce the constitution we have now, what difference will it make if we give Obama (or his Dem successors) a different constitution that they will also ignore?

Because the new convention will lose the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Amendment at the least. We have already virtually lost the 9th and 10th years ago. You will never get the kinds of numbers needed to pass anything of consequence. You won't like the result. Why not convene some sort of tribunal to impeach a majority of the creeps that refuse to follow what is written now? We need a purge of about half the judges and 3/4 of the legislators.

Does anyone believe we will ever get rid of Harry Reid, or Pelosi? San Fran loves her.

The only ways I know of of doing these things involves blood. Having a large argument for years won't fix a thing, IMO.

It would. The original convention was rather chaotic. Committees presented rules for use at the convention which were debated by the delegates. As far as I know there is no set formula for a convention, so a new convention would follow the same formula.

Can you imagine what kind of rules the lefties would suggest?

Article. V.

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate.

You really think redemption for this country is going to come through the ballot box? What a fool.

You don’t know what you are talking about in regards to the second part of Article V.

I should make plain that in an Article 5 Convention, any amendments will be discussed. That means the other 10 can be amended. That would include changing them into something unrecognizable or zeroing them out. Just as in the 2nd Amendment, just modify it to define the militia at the Nat Guard. The first Amendment could be modified with the term "hate" speech. Of course who determines what is hate?

I'm just saying this is a can of worms that would probably end up in a way we weren't expecting. You have to remember, IMO, we are NOT in the majority anymore, and I certainly doubt we could get a 2/3 or 3/4 vote on any subject now. Over 80% of Americans claim to be Christians, yet we have open homosexuality, Abortion, Bible bans, no prayer, ect. The caliber of "citizen"( I use that loosely), has no clue about human nature and have NO wisdom. The beauty of our Founders was they understood completely what it would take for freedom to reign. We have lost that. today.

Gay Rights, Abortion Rights, loss of the 2nd Amendment and restrictions on the 1st, 3rd - 10th, 14th - 17th could get tinkered with, the 22nd would surely be looked at hard by both parties... the list goes on and on. This could be a Pandora's Box we'd never see closed again.

Maybe it’s risky, maybe not, but doing nothing will change nothing.

Right you are! And it's important to note that there are more Republican governors than Democratic. And there are more Republican state legislatures than Democratic.

This is the time to get 'er done.

Looks like it's going to happen, so I have no idea what your "going nowhere fast" has to do with anything.

And Sarah Palin will for sure run and win in 2012,

Happy days are here again.

Your predictive skills are uncanny

My bet is Sarah's put a LOT more thought into running than you have.
She is still far more of a known quantity than any of the other GOP candidates. There is no need for her to get in until the very last minute. By waiting she lets them receive a small measure of the anal exam she has already been subjected to.
She's known for a long time when she is going to pull the trigger.
That will be quite obvious when the time comes.

You got great predictive powers, were right about Sarah waiting till January 2012 or so to jump in and knock the others out then defeat Obama in Nov 2012,
so I am sure you are right about this too.
