Univ. of WI Releases List of Microaggressions; Saying "Everyone can Succeed" Now Racist
The Social Memo ^ | 6/26/15 | Aurelius

The University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point has released a list of microaggressions it expects new faculty to read. The list can be found on the university's official website.

The titled of the document is "Examples of Racial Microaggressions" and outlines types of "racist microaggressions," examples of them, and what they are "actually" saying.

In the section "Color Blindness: Statements that indicate that a White person does not want to acknowledge race," the quote, "America is a melting pot" is said to be racist. According to the document, whites try to force others to "assimilate/acculturate to the dominant culture" when they say that.

Similarly, "There is only one race, the human race" is deemed racist because you are "denying the individual as a racial/cultural being."

Under the "Myth of meritocracy: Statements which assert that race does not play a role in life successes" section, the statement "I believe the most qualified person should get the job" is deemed racist. According to Wisconsin, this is because it's as if you are telling minorities, "People of color are given extra unfair benefits because of their race."

Additionally, "Everyone can succeed in this society, if they work hard enough" is considered racist because it's as if you're telling minorities, "People of color are lazy and / or incompetent and need to work harder."

The list also states that asking an Asian person what they think is racist. Oddly, the list also includes a section about what "black people" and what "Asian people" might act like and makes suggestions accordingly. Ironically, of course, this makes an assumption about what people of different races might do.

I’d better tell my boss and his boss, a VP two rungs up the ladder, that as blacks they were forced by whites to succeed and it just wasn’t right. Maybe the top boss ought to sell his million + house and move to the ghetto.

Making the assumption a black person cannot succeed seems like a big racial aggression.

This is a giant load of crap. People who are worried about “micro aggression” need to grow a thicker skin and find a better use for their time.

You know what is a non-micro-aggression? The constant assault on successful hard-working people and the incessant accusations against them of micro-aggression, racism, insensitivity, or other perceived yet not real or significant behavior that manages to hurt the hyper-sensitive feelings of deadbeats and losers or gives them something to blame for their pathetic lack of accomplishments.

Right. Liberals obviously do not regard so-called minorities as part of “everyone”, which makes the liberals the racists here.

Isn’t the list itself microaggression?

With what we expereienced last week, from the Obamacare to the LGBTQ? decisions, to the attack on the Confederate flag, monuments, and heroes, to coloring the White House in the colors of a clown’s wig, we have seen a massive attack of Liberal Megaaggression.

"I believe the most qualified person should get the job" is deemed racist.

Anyone who finds that comment to be racist must think blacks are inferior and therefore unlikely to be the most qualified person. That makes them the racists.

This is offensive, to be sure, in that it suggests that it will shortly become impossible for the super-sensitive person, who does not wish to offend others, to even address any remotely sensitive subject. After all, our colleges have been carefully conditioning students, for over fifty years, to fear giving offense to recognizable minorities, more than they fear any other type of shunned behavior.

For the above reason, I will refrain from treating this as a joke--although it is certainly a subject for satire.

For unconditioned--unsensitized individuals--however, they might want to consider making a project out of compiling their own lists of possible micro-aggressions, with an aim to demonstrate that all discourse on any important subject will soon be impossible.

For a flight of fancy on what has happened to reason in our once free homeland, consider Gulliver Discovers America.
