“This survey consists of 1,300 likely Republican voters who watched the third GOP debate on CNBC.”

About 18 million want Trump to win. :=)

Rand Paul On Shutdown: "Even Though It Appeared I Was Participating In It, It Was A Dumb Idea"
I said throughout the whole battle that shutting down the government was a dumb idea. Even though it did appear as if I was participating in it, I said it was a dumb idea. And the reason I voted for it, though, is that it's a conundrum. Here's the conundrum. We have a $17 trillion debt and people at home tell me you can't give the president a blank check. We just can't keep raising the debt ceiling without conditions. So unconditionally raising the debt ceiling, nobody at home wants me to vote for that and I can't vote for that. But the conundrum is if I don't we do approach these deadlines. So there is an impasse. In 2011, though, we had this impasse and the president did negotiate. We got the sequester. If we were to extend the sequester from discretionary spending to all the entitlements we would actually fix our problem within a few years.

Rand Paul: Time for GOP to soften war stance
...by softening its edge on some volatile social issues and altering its image as the party always seemingly "eager to go to war... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... "We're going to have to be a little hands off on some of these issues ... and get people into the party," Paul said.

Rand Paul's immigration speech
...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

Rand Paul calls on conservatives to embrace immigration reform
Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration." ...he would create a bipartisan panel to determine how many visas should be granted for workers already in the United States and those who might follow... [and the buried lead] "Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers...

Rand Slams Congress for Funding Egypt's Generals: 'How Does Your Conscience Feel Now?'

He would lose big time against Hillary.

The GOPe would far rather lose to Hillary than win with a conservative because ... they are not remotely conservative. They share the same goals as the democrats. They'd just rather be the people in charge, but they can work with the dems to accomplish the same goals

Trump will likely have a lot of people who don’t normally vote republican voting for him which is something Romney did not have. Romney was not a candidate that got people excited and Trump arguably is. I don’t see Hillary as being very exciting for democrats or getting as many people out to vote for her as Obama did.

Must be a conservative poll.

Sure about that? Marco Amnestio does better than Cruz does.

At any rate, all this shows is that at least 16.8% of Republicans are cuckservatives riding the Amnesty Express. So who cares what they think?

“I’d like to see everyone who advocates changing the laws to benefit those breaking them drop out.

That would leave Trump, Cruz and Santorum.”

Actually Cruz is an unknown.

Cruz refuses to say what he’ll do with the millions of illegals here. He ‘says’ he’s not for amnesty but won’t define what he means by that. McCain also said he wasn’t for amnesty, LOL! Not a good sign, IMO, when other candidates are speaking clearly in the issue. He says he’ll deal with border security first - then ‘have the discussion‘ on what to do with the millions of illegals. He says Americans don’t want to have that discussion until the border is dealt with. BS - conservatives want that discussion! so I don’t trust him. He’s not saying because he has something to hide.

Amnesty is anything other than deporting them. if they get to stay here, then they’ve been given amnesty - forgiven for breaking our laws and allowed benefits those waiting in line, filling out forms and paying fees are denied. If allowed to stay, like Carson’s guest worker program, then WE still pay for their kids’ education, health care, food stamps, welfare, etc. And it’s just one small step from there to citizenship and voting for democrats. Once they are given legal status, they are here to stay-along with all their family members.

Trump has 10x that many people attending his events on a consistent basis. I guess they’re there because they have nothing else to do?

You know, I've reached the point where I simply have no patience for these people's bullskyte anymore.

People who are anti-Trump - and by this I don't mean people who just support another candidate, but rather the people who are really, seriously, all-trashing-Trump-all-the-time - are all a bunch of cuckservative, anti-American sissies. These people hate the guy who wants to do more than just talk about dealing with the invasion of our borders that the destruction of our culture and way of life. They just need to go to Mexico, if they want to live there so bad.

“Supporters of his nomination must, therefore, be prepared to take this risk — while hoping that Trump will draw enough support from previous non-voters and some Democrats to compensate.”

No problem, he’s already got black people and independents who are excited to vote for him.

As well as many Republicans who stayed home for McAmnesty and Romney. Trump’s policy papers, which are much more conservative than any other candidate in the field, especially the one on illegal immigration, will bring out fed up Republicans, Democrats, and Independents in droves.

Cruz refuses to say what he’ll do with the millions of illegals here.

And that's the one thing that keeps me from wholeheartedly, 100% backing Cruz. This issue is more important for the long-term health and even the survival of this country than any ten other issues put together.

EVERYTHING eventually comes back to illegal immigration.

You are one of these mega-pro-life warriors, and therefore can't support Trump because you're not sure about him on this issue? Well guess what, when all the millions of illegal aliens are amnestied and eventually voting in our elections, mostly for Democrats, then you won't have to worry anymore, because you'll constantly have pro-abortion politicians in the large majority, and your pet issue will be irrelevant.

Repeat with pretty much every other issue.

Either we hold the line HERE AND NOW on illegal immigration, or we don't even have an America to "save" any longer.

People better wake up and get their heads out of their butts before it's too late.

The beauty of all these flailing’s, nonsense polls and predictions is that Trump is a self made candidate.

He made himself a candidate. Not the Republicans Establishment, not the press, not anyone but Donald himself. So he’s the only one who can take him out.

And, he won’t take himself out.

He continues to say it more and more often, and with stronger effect, he’s in it until he wins it.

Which he will.

All the rest of this is simply ranting, and probably that simply to avoid wailing for as long as possible.

I understand where you are coming from, though I believe you both are a little sanguine about your "new Republican turnout" due to Trump. There is no doubt, though, that this effect will be in play...to some degree.

At the same time, I believe you are under-estimating the stay-at-home Republican vote that would be attributable to a Trump nomination. As a veteran of the Goldwater campaign, I'm acutely sensitive to how little support -- in terms of money, on the ground action and actual votes -- an anti-establishment GOP candidate can receive.

This effect, too, will be in play...to some degree.

That's not to say the very same effects wouldn't be in play with a Cruz candidacy.

Thus, both Trump and Cruz are risky candidates. But I would a helluva lot rather take my chances with Trump or Cruz than with Bush or, say, Kasich.

Reagan was an outsider also. The biggest mistake republicans make is thinking Goldwater instead of Reagan, which is why we get “safe” losers like Dole, McCain and Romney as nominees. I think you underestimate the disgusted stay at homes if somebody like Bush, Kasich or Rubio is the nominee. I know I will be one of them.

Yup. Online polls aren’t taken seriously by serious people. Even Fox News discounts them — except their polls of course. ;)

1,300 out of a population in this country of how many hundreds of millions?

318.9 million?

What a staggering percentage of the population the whole election hangs on.
