Whats up with all of this after-the-fact complaining weve heard from Donald Trump in the wake of his recent losses to Senator Cruz? Yesterday, Mr. Cruz romped in Wyoming. Mr. Trump charged that the Texan had bought the delegates. A week earlier after Mr. Cruz swept Colorado, a Trump lieutenant accused the Cruz campaign of Gestapo tactics.
The crusty solon from Texas is probably the senator the Republican Establishment most likes to dislike. Yet after the Mr. Cruz crushed the New Yorker 531,000 votes to 386,000 in the Wisconsin primary, Mr. Trump called him a Trojan horse for the Establishment.
It looks like Mr. Trump has realized that he has lost the race for the GOP nomination, at least according to rules in place since October 1. Its looking like too far a reach to win enough bound delegates before Cleveland. After insulting everyone, he is unlikely to be able to woo any unbound delegates.
Mr. Cruz, meanwhile, is likely to wind up in a close-enough second place to provide an anti-Establishment alternative acceptable to delegates representing alienated GOP primary voters and caucus-goers. Currently, Mr. Trump leads Senator Cruz by fewer than 200 bound delegates.
The billionaire needs about 485 more bound delegates, or 70% of the approximately 700 in remaining contests, an unlikely achievement for a candidate who has never won more than 50% of the vote anywhere. With 310 bound delegates at stake on the final day, June 7, he cant win beforehand. So, Mr. Trumps charges of unfairness seem designed to hedge his bet and explain away his likely defeat....

I think that reality is beginning to dawn.
ROTFLMAO!
Ted Cruz has lost. He will have been mathematically eliminated after the next Tuesday or two. His only hope was to get the nomination at a contested GOP convention, which would irreparably splinter the party, and guarantee a GOP defeat in November.
Simply put, that's not going to happen. Not even the crooked GOPe is that stupid.
Vote Trump
Hey I’m all for Trump mounting an independent bid. 100%.
I think if he runs against Hillary, he will win the presidency as an independent. Absolutely.
However if Bernie ends up the democrat, I think Bernie will win if Trump is an independent.
Neither way, does Cruz even register. He will be nowhere.
Give it up. Join with Trump against the democrats. You’re not going to win the presidency.
Cruz just won’t. He is completely gaming the GOP primaries, and turning off more people all of the time.
Go Trump. :D
Nonsense!
Trump is winning Republican primaries, is ahead in electoral votes and should be the Republican nominee for president.
Red Jahncke doth protest too much, methinks. #;*)
Gee... how’s whatshername.... some lady who’s married to some guy from Ohio who until very recently trolled for Ted all the time... maybe still does... yeah her... how’s she doin these days?
I don’t think Trump will go 3rd party (unfortunately). The GOPe will string Cruz along far enough to cripple Trumps chances and then kick him to the curb. Right-wing voters (both independent, conservative, and Republican) will walk away. Then whatever loser the GOPe puts up will be handily beaten by hillary dillary.
Talk about winning the battle and losing the war...
Trump hasn’t earned a single electoral vote yet.
There are still the NE primaries this week and next. According to most polls, Trump is going to do well.
Cruz is the one who needs to be concerned. He is still lagging Trump by about 200 delegates and his only hope remaining is California. If Trump scores high in NY, it may be mathematically impossible for Cruz to get to 1237 delegates.
Soon, when the voters of Texas send him packing, Teddy can go back to representing Communist Chinese and Big Pharma! Maybe he can win some of those. He has a bad record so far in private practice!
This is BS.
Trump is prohibited by law from running in some states as an Independent, Ohio being one of them, if he ran in the primary as a candidate for another party.
NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN.
Obviously Cruz is only in this to stop Trump.
I agree Trump beats HRC + (Kasich, Ryan, Romney, Bush) in a three-way election.
I agree Sanders beats Trump, either straight up or in a three way.
But the Democratic ticket is Biden/Warren, and they will be very difficult to beat in any configuration of candidates.
Not even the crooked GOPe is that stupid.
I believe the Uniparty GOP Wing will suffer a tactical loss for a strategic win. Trump threatens *both* Uniparty wings; his win would defeat the entirety of the Uniparty.
The writer has taken some liberty...Trump needs 60% of remaining delegates...he also will win with 50% on the first ballot; in fact, anything from 1125-1150 and he’s in. If you look at it from the 1150 perspective, it’s pretty well over.
Only Texas has a “hard” sore loser law, and it can be changed by the Legislature any time up until November 7, 2016.
Out of one side of their face, Trump supporters mock Cruz for not having the support of any of the members of the Senate and out of the other side of their face they claim that Cruz is teh establishment choice.
The members of the Senate carry very little weight. Rinsed Penis and the GOPe clown posse that are running Teddy’s campaign are true establishment.
The smell of Bush is all over him.
Try to deny that and I’ll give you specifics. (Starting with Jeb’s campaign finance team and brother.)
Disagree.
The GOP is happy to lose for the right price.
