CBS and Foxs projected earnings will suffer a hit, according to two separate reports by Credit Suisse, and falling NFL ratings will continue to impact network earnings so long as they are on a downward trend.
Why are earnings suffering? CBS crashing NFL ratings will directly impact company earnings, Omar Sheikh, Credit Suisse analyst, said.
Special: 3 foods to avoid in 2017 We expect third-quarter network advertising to decline 3 percent (previously +1 percent), driven by soft ratings for both the summer schedule and for the start of the NFL season, Sheikh said, according to CNBC. With only one of the three content licensing deals we expected for the second half announced in third quarter, we also expect content licensing revenue growth to be skewed to the fourth quarter.
CBS NFL ratings are down 17 percent from year over year.
Sheikh said that Fox is also beginning to feel the effects of tumbling NFL ratings and will continue to do so if ratings arent pulled up and soon.
NFL ratings [are] weak so far, Sheikh said. This was negatively impacted during the first two weeks by hurricane disruption, but is disappointing given the soft comps if ratings do not improve materially, we see a potential headwind to domestic advertising revenues in Q2/Q3 18.
Foxs NFL ratings are down 7 percent for the first five weeks of the season year over year.
What are people saying about the current state of the NFL? According to President Donald Trump, ratings are down because of the NFL player protests.
Trump in September tweeted, NFL attendance and ratings are WAY DOWN. Boring games yes, but many stay away because they love our country. League should back U.S.
ESPNs Adam Schefter noted last week that the NFL is in a very volatile and dangerous place.
It is very sensitive. It is chipping away at the popularity of the sport, Schefter added. There are people who are turned off to whats happening. There are people canceling their DirecTV subscriptions.
Keep It OFF!
Fixed It.
HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa......
The NFL hates America.
America noticed.
Bye NFL.
They have lost me forever. I will never watch professional football again. May they all end up in the unemployment lines.
NFL, if you are so great, post your home addresses. Citizens want to know.
This “Omar Sheikh” dude, who probably doesn’t understand the first thing about football (given his background), seems to be MUCH SMARTER about what is going on than the people who have their entire lives immersed in the sport.
Why nobody’s buying it...
NFL=national football losers
I like it!!! I was going to cancel my dish subscription anyway, as I got scammed regarding the pricing.
Wasn’t sure about what reason to give them, but Conlin and the Owners have given me a GREAT REASON!!!
It’s gone!!!
<< May they all end up in the unemployment lines. >>
Most would be more likely to end up in prison cells
As John Bender would say, “B-o-o. H-o-o.”
Lick it up, NFL. Lick it up. You crapped the bed; now lick it up.
NFL are traitorous criminal thugs. Or cowards.
Pardon my childishness, but I chuckled at this name. Is this a real person? Shades of AliBaba - or is that un-PC these days?
You network executives just go ahead and keep telling yourselves that. Fake News.
Posting the home addresses of all the players may be a good thing.
what does a 7% dip in ratings translate to in terms of income?
If any FReeper knows.
That’s a drop from last year’s diminished ratings. Cumulatively, it’s much more than 7 percent.
That isn’t what caused it. It might have made it even worse than it already was.
