The nation's first and most successful occupation of a federal immigration building has entered a stalemate.
The demonstrators at what federal officials characterize as a "very, very peaceful" protest camp outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement building on Southwest Macadam Avenue have settled in for the long haul. Federal agents swept protesters away from the ICE building's front entrance June 28, allowing the building to fully reopen July 3.
Now the two organizations—ICE and Occupy ICE—are uneasy neighbors.
Last weekend, small children in the protest camp played with bubbles as their parents crafted protest signs and bopped to dated rock jams near a police line keeping protesters away from the entrance of the federal building. There are no weapons permitted inside the nonviolent camp. Young boys made cardboard shields Saturday afternoon, but their parents wouldn't let them make cardboard swords....

If this were Republicans, libertarians, and tax protesters during the Obama era, blocking access to an IRS office, the authorities would have been ordered to crack skulls without prejudice. And the media would gleefully report it and rub their fascist hands.

Portland sounds like a hippie redux of the ‘70s. Go to San Francisco and see how that turns out. But watch out for the feces and the mentally ill.
If you look at most all of the video shot over the past two weeks of anti-ICE demonstrations, it’s white yuppies and Latinos. For every five-hundred white yuppies, there’s one token black gal. I looked at several videos over the weekend, and it’s always the same. In fact, for the Portland ‘fight’ from the weekend, I noticed the patriot-guys had a couple of black guys in their ranks (I would guess former Marines or Army).
It’s another sign that this theme doesn’t sell well to various ethnic groups. I haven’t noticed a single Asian in the anti-ICE theatrics either.

Oh, I forgot... It’s Oregon where the liberal nuts can do whatever they want to do and no one in the law enforcement organizations will do anything.
I think most Asians...especially Taiwanese...are Conservatives at heart.
Amazing thinking, using army tanks against protesting veterans and their families. Ignoring the president’s order to cease the engagement, having several children died from the event. Though that situation is different from this case, using the same techniques would not have a different outcome.

Nothing like using military troops against our own citizens to muddle the issues further.
