One wonders how close to the fine line of treason the mainstream media folks like Lester Holt are truly dancing along when it comes to how they report
I dont normally watch the alphabet networks or liberal left media outlets. While up north in Oregon, however, a person I am visiting is fond of NBC. During a commercial earlier in the day, yesterday, advertising the upcoming episode of the networks NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, the host looked me in the eye through the camera lens and my television screen and said, The president is revoking security clearances of government officials who criticize him.
What?
Hmmmm. Maybe sean_anthony should just post the link to the CanaDUH free press main site. Looks like s_a’s going for the full site today. I’ll help:
Beware poop ups though.
What the President should do, IMHO, is to sigh an EO stating that once you leave the position for which the clearance was issued, you by default, no longer have a need to know.
Seems that that would cover it...
“What the President should do, IMHO, is to sigh an EO stating that once you leave the position for which the clearance was issued, you by default, no longer have a need to know.”
That’s already the LAW. These morons shouldn’t have a clearance by the time they are escorted out the door. It’s the Agencies they are leaving that are at fault for this stupid story.
That would solve the problem on both sides. There is a very bad appearance of ethical conflicts of interest when government employees slide in and out of contractor jobs making millions off access their to secrets.
When anyone else changes jobs, they no longer get access to their previous jobs information. Why should government be different?
when I left my last gig at the Navy, my access expired as my CAC has to be returned. But my clearance remained valid for my
next gig. All they have to do is run one’s SSN through JPADS
to verify. Clearance is current for 2 years unless suspended or revoked.
That would be sedition, Doug, not treason.
On Fox News Sunday, neither Wallace or his guests or panel, while mentioning the list that Trump is considering for revocation, mentioned the fact that all have been fired or demoted and are under investigation.
Rich Lowery parroted the stupidity that revocation might be a 1st Amendment issue. Now I understand why National Review went from a first rate conservative publication to the idiocy it now promotes. William Buckley must have been in severe decline when he chose Lowery to head the magazine.
It would be fun to see the Supreme Court handle that issue.
Same here with mine. Clearances don’t “vanish” so to speak. Kind of suspended until updated as required. Depending on what program or mission was being put in place.
And it is actually much longer than two year, as I was called back to consult with a defense contractor. I spent exactly zero days before I had an interim secret clearance and full access. (I had left the company and spent more than ten years in retirement.)
What’s wrong with using the CFP link directly below the article headline? Goes directly to the article unlike your suggestion which goes to the CFP homepage. Then you have to search for this article.
Knock yourself out.
I’m sure you have sean_anthony’s rapt attention :)
Being the astute observer that I am, yes.
Actually some clearances do vanish. I had one that wasn’t being issued anymore. Eventually it will vanish. I got my security officer to put me in for and completed my five year update before I punched out. Then, if needed for a new job, I could easily get my tickets back within five years by looking up my SSAN. As it happened I retired.
