Is robust freedom compatible with preening in front of mirrors?
If men were allowed to be men, wouldn’t wild unkempt hair be much more common?
Well, preening is one thing. Wild and unkempt is another. Real men like real women and real women tend to like men who keep their appearance tidy, you know, hair trimmed, clean, a comb once in a while.
Hair short and neat never goes out of style
Not necessarily.
Some guys take a lot of pride in looking good, and buy just the right merchandise. They are the group that magazines, such as Esquire or GQ USED TO be for, before those mag became too PC.
Some Gen X guys want what used to be called a Crew Cut. When a friend of mine was seen with a Marine-like buzz cut, I figured he was either going to a staff meeting, looking for a new job, or to a school function for his kids.
Other guys (like me) only do what they have to do, and when they have to do it. I have a thick neck. I don’t like wearing ties for very long, or having that top button snapped.
Bloomberg said it was ok to get Manscaped and waxed down below like Mayor Pete...
...and a shave. Shaving every day is not against the law, as far as I know.
It’s “buzz me with a #5 all over” at Great Clips for me.
Over my many years, I have probably tried about every look. But each time I go back to short hair and a clean shaven face, because it is easier to maintain. With short head hair and a clean face, you can be off grid for a week and sort yourself out in less than 15 minutes. Also, you look neutral, so what you wear determines what people see. So if you put on a Tux, you are well off. If you put on a t-shirt and grease stained jeans, you are ready for the oil changing pit.
One of life’s great pleasures is that feeling right after a clean shave.
I’ve worn my goatee so long the last time I shaved it I freaked out a little. Didn’t recognize myself. Started growing it back the next day!

Yup, clean shaven. I’ve never understand the look of a woman’s nether-regions and a breeding ground for lice and other critters. Sorta gay.
The Romans, (you know, those guys who built an empire), wore their hair short. Impugning the manhood of a Roman could get you killed.

The Romans have been superseded by an amazing bunch of people who went back to what the original Rome was for a model and built a Republic which has chnaged the world. This group of people is called Americans.
