DeSantis Megadonor, Billionaire Head of Citadel Investments Ken Griffin, Explains Why He Purchased Ron DeSantis for 2024 and What He Expects from His Investment
Conservative Treehouse ^ | November 6, 2022 | Sundance

Billionaire Citadel Investment hedge fund CEO Ken Griffin (pictured above, center) is one of the top purchasers of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for a 2024 presidential bid. In a recent article for Politico, Mr. Griffin openly explains what he expects from his investment in DeSantis:

WASHINGTON DC – […] He has given nearly $60 million to federal Republican candidates and campaigns this election cycle. That puts Griffin behind just liberal billionaire George Soros, who’s given more than $128 million to Democrats, and Richard Uihlein, who aligns himself with far-right candidates and organizations, at about $62 million.

[…] While he’s supporting one of this cycle’s biggest culture warriors in DeSantis, Griffin said most hot-button issues — abortion rights, battles over sex education and LGBTQ rights — don’t define his interests. He wants to improve the diversity of the GOP and blunt the vein of populism that has complicated the party’s relationship with the corporate world — two things he’s consulted with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy about.

A comment below the article in the link sums it up:

[Marcia November 6, 2022 6:56 pm Retired Magistrate here: Here is the big difference: DeSantis will do what is best for his backers; President Trump will do what is best for the Country, including all of us in “flyover country.” President Trump is for the “average joe”; DeSantis is for the cocktail set who really don’t care about the rest of us. As long as their sons and daughters don’t have to go to foreign shores to fight and as long as their riches increase they are happy.

There is no one like President Trump, period.]

It’s not either-or. I’m for Trump. I’m for DeSantis.

Is this why DeSantis wasn't part of the Trump/Rubio Miami Rally.

Looks like Trump has sicced the slobberying attack dogs out on DeSantis. Conservative Treehouse sounds like Marxists when they post this crap. I wonder if DeSantis’ Dad also killed Kennedy.

So, is Citadel Man admitting that he has bought and paid for DeSantis?

If it is true it is always helpful. If it is a lie, it is not.

blunt the vein of populism...

The very thing that is putting DeSantis on the map. And the only reason he’s even there is because of Pres Trump. Not so much because the President endorsed him 4 years ago, where he barely beat the crack head he ran against.

For now, DeSantis is doing a good job of portraying himself as an ‘outsider’, non-DC Establishment type of guy. He talks like a regular guy at his press conferences and pushes back on the media. Something that President Trump is/was an expert at. As is Kari Lake and, truth be told, as much of a Trump guy as I am, even he can’t handle the press like Lake does. Neither of them can.

That woman is a straight up assassin when it comes to destroying the press.

DeSantis comes across as being a populist. Whether Griffin wants to acknowledge it. And when it comes to comparing him to other GOP Governors, he doesn’t have any competition. There isn’t one that is willing to do and say the things he does and says. When you look at guys like Kemp, Ducey, Dewine, Hutchison, and all the rest, he’s leaps and bounds ahead of the curve, but that isn’t saying much.

Either way, Griffin and the rest aren’t dropping that coin out of the goodness of their hearts. That IOU will be presented at some point.

That’s not an IOU that President Trump wants or would accept.

Why are you blaming Trump for this? He didn’t sic anyone on DeSantis. This guy is a big donor for DeSantis.

This treehouse character seems confused

He accuses Desantis of being a GOPestablishment corporatist. But he never mentions Desantis’s roasting of the Disney corp. Desantis took major heat from Republican corporatists, like Asa Hutchinson and Larry Hogan, because he called out this woke Disney corp for opposing his child-protection legislation. Desantis even stripped Disney of some sweetheart tax perks. The media and a lot of traditional GOP bigwigs cried that it wasn’t “conservative” to go after private companies. Desantis replied that his duty was to the welfare and rights of his constituents

Desantis said the same thing when he banned vaccine mandates by private employers

Does Mr “Treehouse” think his readers are so dumb they’ll forget those things???

And here we have an excellent example of politicians requiring financial backers. Even the best of them because the price of admission is just too high for anyone of average means.

WTF are you talking about? TheConservativeTreehouse is Trump’s psycho attack dogs. If you read the article closely, you will find words like “investment,” and “purchased” are never in quotes, because they are pure fiction from TheConservativeTreehouse. Stick them in quotes, and they’re actionable. TheConservativeTreehouse knows this, so they carefully word things to make it seem like people said things they never say so mouth-frothing idiots will run screaming their marching orders without even paying attention.

I was very happily surprised at how well Trump stuck by the pro-life cause, but Holy Cow! he was the most incompetent blowhard to ever step foot in Washington. He promised to end illegal immigration, and within two years of leaving office, five million illegal immigrants have streamed across the border, because he literally didn’t know what the hell he was doing. We need someone with Trump’s position on the issues and willingness to fight, but Trump eight years older and more brain-addled? He’ll be succeeded by a Democrat’s Adolf Hitler.

“ That’s not an IOU that President Trump wants or would ”

Trump took donations from this guy, along with all the other big donors.

I’m pro Trump, but when did Trump once stand up to a wile corporation the way Desantis stood up to Disney, and the way Desantis banned vaccine mandates by private employers?

Treehouse is dishonest or memory-impaired. Either way, he’s not someone to take seriously

Anyone who believes the crackpot owner of CTH has to be crazy. The guy is consistently wrong about almost everything. His unhealthy obsession with desantis is nonsensical.
