Though ordinary people might consider telling the world we are out of ammunition or severely depleting our strategic petroleum reserves to be unforced errors, However, MSNBC's Chris Matthews contends that "Biden is a brilliant strategist. I'd put him on a par with FDR's leadership during World War II. He has united NATO as never before and cleverly maneuvered Russia into a debilitating war with Ukraine."
Former President Trump called Matthews proclamation of Biden's genius "idiotic. Funding Ukraine's war with Russia has been a colossal blunder. It has multiplied the casualties for both sides, depleted our armaments, and dragged us nearer a World War III than we've ever been before."
"Democrats used to say that 'war is not the answer,'" Trump recalled. "If this was true in the case of Vietnam it is even more true now that one of the combatants is a nuclear-armed world power. The cluster bombs Biden is sending to Ukraine are outlawed by over 100 nations. These unreliable weapons will leave unexploded shells lying around to kill and maim innocent Ukrainian men, women, and children for decades to come. Escalating the conflict in this way is madness."
"It's not as if maintaining Ukraine's border is vital to US interests," Trump said. "Ukraine is not even a democracy. Zelensky has outlawed opposition parties. It is not an honest government. Billions of dollars worth of the ammunition and equipment we have provided have gone missing. Some has been sold on the black market. What is vital to US interests is peace. It makes no sense to squander the means for our own defense on this dangerous conflict."
Matthews rejected Trump's assertions, calling them "self-serving and unpatriotic. President Biden has given his word that we will give Ukraine everything it needs to defeat Russia. It is incumbent on every loyal American to ensure that his noble gesture is fulfilled. The greatest generation fought World War II to defeat Nazi tyranny. It is our duty to live up to the example they set for us and defeat Russian tyranny. If this leads to World War III, then so be it."

Excuse me, Biden’s plan was to evacuate Zelensky.
The “brilliant” (Chris Matthews’ word) part was Zelensky refusing the offer. Attributing Zelensky’s response to Biden only reveals that Chris Matthews is a partisan hack and is incapable of objectivity.
Bigger picture: People tend to over-learn the lesson of the immediate past:
1. NEOCON MISTAKE: We helped Germany and Japan transition from totalitarian countries into democratic countries. Therefore, we can help Afghanistan and Iraq transition into democratic countries.
2. AMERICA-ONLY MISTAKE: In spite of all the help we gave to Afghanistan and Iraq, they failed to transition into democracies that could defend themselves. Therefore, we shouldn’t help Ukraine defend itself from Russia.
What’s missing from both of the above “lessons” is that it’s not just us. It’s the German people, the Japanese people, and the Ukrainian people. They deserve most of the credit for their transition to democracy.* As for the Afghani people and the Iraqi people (other than the Kurds), they deserve most of the blame for not defending themselves.
I’ll turn the clock back even further. Why didn’t the President of Czechoslovakia reject the partitioning of his country by Neville Chamberlain at Munich? Why didn’t he say, like Zelensky, I need ammunition, not a ride?
Just asking the question reveals the answer. Czechoslovakia was a newly-constructed country, a product of Versailles. The various peoples of that country had no historical connection except as parts of the Austrian Empire. Therefore, it didn’t matter that, on paper, Czechoslovakia would have been able to repel an invasion by Germany, the people of Czechoslovakia didn’t have the will to defend their thrown-together country.
BTW what happened to Czechoslovakia after the fall of the Berlin Wall?
*I do not mean to minimize the important roles played by General Lucius Clay, Conrad Adenauer, General Douglas MacArthur, Emperor Hirohito and many others in the transitions of Germany and Japan into democracies. History is not merely about the interplay of abstract soocio-economic forces, but also about leaders.
Chris “Leg-Tingles” Matthews has always been a nauseating bootlicker.
In the first place, they are stupid.
And secondly, their objective is the destruction of the United States, and Biden--well, actually his handlers; Biden is nothing but a figurehead--are proceeding with this malevolent objective brilliantly--and with giant strides, thanks to the stupid Left.
The government is corrupt and he knew how to work the system.
Chris Matthews = Room 101 Graduate
Brilliant like a polished turd.
John, I know this is semi-satire, but did you find an actual Chris Matthews statement that Biden is “brilliant” for maneuvering Russia into the current Ukraine war?
I’m not sure that Matthews said that. Parts of John’s posts are fictional. Of course Matthews could have thought about making such a statement, or maybe he did and MSNBC didn’t air it.
When you’ve satisfied yourself that Matthews described Biden’s policy as brilliant, I’d appreciate an acknowledge. Otherwise, state what you know or think you know, and provide your source.
What search engine do you use?
Truly brilliant minds do truly brilliant things, like google “chris matthews biden brilliant,” to verify something from a sometimes unreliable source. I did exactly what you did.
I think I was expecting to find an msnbc article. Although Matthews apparently said it on morning joe, apparently msnbc itself doesn’t have such an article. Breitbart mentions morning joe. Thanks for the help.
