~The Dragon Flies' Lair VI ~

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

'New thread!' The sign had said,
and into the door I was led
The furniture was draped in red
And danced about my pounding head
It chased me down when at last I fled
And now I lay under it, beaten but not dead.

Well I 'm so glad you arrived
all intact and without a whack!
We have done well in our efforts
to write our Prose and Poetry
in a Dragon Flies' Lair!

The Night Before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the town,
the fire siren echoed blaring its sound.
The firefighters came running from far and from near,
and raced to the trucks quickly donning their gear.
And I in my bunkers my boots and my hat,
jumped to the engine to see where the fire's at.
Down at the corner of Fifth and of Oak,
the dispatcher informed us of a house filled with smoke.
Smoke poured from the sides, from up and from down,
yet up on the roof there was none to be found.
So up to the rooftop we raised up a ladder,
and climbed to the top to see what was the matter.
I came to the chimney and what did I see,
but a fellow in red stuck past his knees.
Well we tugged and we pulled until he came out,
then he winked with his eye and said with a shout.
"These darn newfangled chimneys they make them too small,
for a fellow as I, not skinny at all."
With a twitch of his nose he dashed to his sleigh,
and called to his reindeer, "AWAY now, AWAY."
As we rolled up our hoses he flew out of sight,
saying "God bless our firefighters" and to all a good night.

I lead, huh? Okay, but you asked for it ..

I've never taken the point before
One wonders why I was picked.
Was it because of a hot streak
Or merely because I was tricked?

It's lonely out here, in front of the pack
But at least my view gets to change
Starting won't hurt me, or so I am told
By those who are further downrange.

So lead off I must, and lead off I will
On a brand-new poetry thread
Of romance and lost love and things of the heart
Having lost them, all items I dread

But hope springs eternal, as night comes again
Dreamcatcher, don't fail me this time
For sleep and the dream world are dear to me now
For one who knows, here is my rhyme.

I envy those who have the time
to sit right down and write a rhyme

if I get unbusy, then you'll see
that Wolves can write some poetry

but until all my chores are through
this is just going to have to do

:-)

My Dragon Fly and I we know
of heart ache and soul ache
of dark days and sooo lonely nights
nightmare alley in shadow deep
walking in the valley of dread
of losing comfort
in your skin
knowing you are hollow again
and will walk the narrow paths
alone and drink your dinner
on the phone
starting to ring
a number you know no one is home.

Yes, The Dragon Fly knows
the pain of never coming home again
of welcome words and loving hugs
and drinking tea with me at three...
All that's left is the ceremony of
lighting candles for you
and remembering when we were two.

Yep, we're busy as can be
no time for sweet prose
gathering stories from history
That's how the Foxhole grows
