Thank you for the ping trussell.
Amelia - I offer my prayers for your friend and her family. I hope there will be the miracle you seek on her behalf.

Thanks to all of you for the prayers - they are very much appreciated, as is your concern for a complete stranger.
We spent much of the afternoon at the hospital, but things are not looking good today. Debbie has a fever of 104 degrees, her heart rate is up about 140, and the doctors told the family they may want to consider turning off the ventilator Debbie was put on after her lung biopsy.
However, if the prayers are not helping Debbie's physical condition, her husband & siblings seem to be more at peace today - the doctors also said if she survives, she'll be a total invalid and need to go to a nursing home, and they don't feel she'd want to live that way.
I continue to pray for a miracle, but also that His Will be done. Thanks again to all of you for being here.

Heavenly Father, we return to give You thanks that our times are in Your hands. O God, we continue to pray that Debbie would be roused from her deep distress ... that the miracle of healing would overrule what seems hopeless. We praise You that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, Creator God, and that in Your hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind. Look with mercy upon this dear woman, I pray. Surround her family with the comfort of Your presence, for their grief is great. Give them the greatest wisdom in all decisions, Heavenly Father ... lead them through this time of trial, in the Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen ...

I too pray for a miracle.......trusting that it is God who knows what is best.
These terribly painful times always cause us to focus on how precious a gift life is, but also that we belong to Him.
I find great comfort in the words of this hymn.
"I'm But a Stranger Here"
I'm but a stranger here,
Heaven is my home;
Earth is a desert drear,
Heaven is my home.
Danger and sorrow stand
Round me on every hand;
Heaven is my fatherland,
Heaven is my home.
What though the tempest rage,
Heaven is my home;
Short is my pilgrimage,
Heaven is my home;
And time's wild wintry blast
Soon shall be overpast;
I shall reach home at last,
Heaven is my home.
There at my Savior's side
Heaven is my home;
I shall be glorified,
Heaven is my home;
There are the good and blest,
Those I love most and best;
And there I, too, shall rest,
Heaven is my home.
Therefore I murmur not,
Heaven is my home;
Whate'er my earthly lot,
Heaven is my home;
And I shall surely stand
There at my Lord's right hand.
Heaven is my fatherland,
Heaven is my home.

What a difficult thing.
I am sorry for the pain this may bring you. Watching a loved one suffer is the hardest part of life. I hope God will steal away much of the pain that is caused while you and your friend's family have to watch your speical friend slip away from us.
I believe, there must be a reason.
Your friend is in my thoughts and prayers, and will continue to be so.
You too, Amelia.
I hope you will have peace that your friend was loved and cherished. It is hard to know the right words to say to offer you any comfort. I wish I had those words right now. I pray God has His hand on your shoulder.
My prayers continue to be with your friend, her family ,and with you.

Thank you so much. Yes, it's very difficult, but I do believe God has a reason for everything, and "further along we'll understand why." Doesn't always make NOW any easier.
Your prayers and kind words are very much appreciated.

Praise be to God! Here's part of an email I got from Debbie's sister tonite:
Today appeared to be a good day as her fever was gone, her vital signs were stable, and her color looked better. Prayerfully the antibotics are doing there thing and things will continue to progress. She is still sedated and pain free at this point. They were able to move her last night to a sports bed that will shift her body etc.
The doctor wants to just take it day to day. Please keep the prayers going and I will keep you posted.
Also I want to thank you ALL for the prayers, calls, cards, visits, and I hope I can get a card out to you soon but please know we appreciate everything and everyone....
I was so afraid to open the email, and now I'm so happy I'm in tears. She's not out of the woods yet, but this is a big improvement over yesterday.

Heavenly Father, we return to give You thanks that You are Sovereign God ... Yours is the universe and everything therein. Kingdoms rise up and fall by Your direction ... who, then, are we that you are mindful of us? We are dust, but You have made us for fellowship with You ... to You be all glory and praise, forever and ever.
Thank You, Creator God, that You have touched Debbie and caused her to rally ... thank You for Your mercies extended to her, and to those who petition on her behalf. O God, may it be that she be restored to health ... grant wisdom to those tending her ... may they see Your hand upon her, and may they return to give You praise, for miraculous is Your care.
Our times are in Your hands, Heavenly Father ... I pray that You would grant unto Debbie a fullness of days, that she may rejoice in Your provision, in the Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen ...

Not as good today. The fever is back, up to 102, and Debbie's lungs aren't doing the gas exchange thing very well today - they've had to increase the percentage of oxygen they are giving her, and the carbon dioxide levels in her blood have been high.
They were able to lower the %O2 a bit this afternoon, but it's still at 80%, as compared to 20% in air.
The doctor is again talking about taking away the ventilator - I hope the family doesn't have to make that decision; it would be very painful.
