Now, that's better! The power of collective bargaining.
Funny, I still feel kinda thirsty, though...

Runner
Dawn's chill breath
drawn into my own,
Sweat and the dew
mix upon my brow,
Hitching pains in my chest,
cramping claws upon my legs,
the mind drives me on,
the burning in my limbs
feeding my fires within.
The mile drags on
and my breath is ragged now,
still my legs keep pumping,
my heart hammers thumping,
my mind begins to wander
and the rhythm breaks
with my stride.
With a snap, I wrench myself
back to the focus:
stretch out the stride,
swing the arms wide,
eyes on the line
and the goal.
But time is not my friend this day,
the race is won and lost
and the pain is doubled.

Hi everyone! I hope you are having a good weekend. I finally have my apartment cleaned and organized now. I'm sure I'll be making changes and rearranging as time goes on, but everything is put away.
I used my oven for the first time tonight. It works fine except for the fact that all of the numbers except for part of 400 and 450 degrees are worn off of the knob. LOL! I'm going to have to call about that next week. At least most recipes call for temperatures around that range, so I can guess where the correct setting should be.

Paul Anka .... nice.
Thanks.

Good evening, Tulip!!
Great to see you tonight. Happy Weekend.
Wanna come over to help clean and organize my house? :)
Until you get the knobs on your oven replaced, I'll only post recipes that use temperatures below 4oo degrees. :~)

Ooops ... I misread your post. I thought it said the numbers 400 - 450 were worn off. :)
I'll see if I can find something cooked at a high temp.

My Frequent Prayer
My eyes are stained glass windows,
Gods light shines to my soul.
With every breath I take,
I thank God for my role.
I have a part to play, you see.
With loneliness around.
For every only child I know,
A brother he has found.
Theres music in the world, I hear,
A drumbeat booms within my chest.
Im mindful that God wrote the score,
With every drummers rest.
And flutes there are, and fifes so sweet,
That glide across the day.
The feathered players know the tunes,
And never ask for pay.
My friends go by, theyre off to church,
And pray that I will follow.
But water becomes wine to me,
A sacrament to swallow,
And every crust of bread, to me,
Is sacred to behold,
And every coin that comes to me,
I feel is made of gold.
Im thankful for each breath I take,
With every word I say,
I just wish folks could understand,
That this is how I pray.

The Humanity Of Jesus
Read: Hebrews 2:9-18
We do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses. Hebrews 4:15
Bible In One Year: Psalms 110-112; 1 Corinthians 5
I once overheard this comment about a person who was always critical: "The trouble with him is that he's forgotten what it's like to be human!" How easily we forget our past struggles and become unsympathetic toward those who are struggling today. But there's one who hasn't forgotten what it's like to be humanJesus.
In Hebrews 2:9-18, we "see" Jesus' humanity more fully. As a man, He was able by God's grace to experience death in our place. And during His earthly life Jesus was made perfect through His sufferings (v.10). But there's more. "Both [Jesus] who sanctifies and [we] who are being sanctified are all of one." Because of this oneness, Jesus is not ashamed to call us brothers and sisters (v.11).
In a body like ours, Jesus lived, worked, and overcame every obstacle, so He knows what it's like to be one of us. Having passed through all these experiences without sinning, He then went to heaven and is now our approachable High Priest at the throne of grace (vv.17-18; 4:14-16).
We all need someone who knows what it's like to be human yet has limitless power to help us overcome our human weaknesses. Jesus is that one. He longs to hear us speak His name and ask for His help. Joanie Yoder
God lived as man, as one of us,
And understands our need for grace;
He is not distant nor detached
From all the trials that we face. Sper
No one understands like Jesus.
