This comment is in response to an article I recently read on this site when doing a search for rape conviction sentencing. I was horrified to see such a short sighted article, infering based upon the "information" provided that rape accusals are abused and lacking in credibility. As a rape survivor myself, I find this a hard arguement to swallow to say nothing of buy into. The reason I never went through with pressing charges is no one believed me and it was too emotionally raw to keep pursuing. It is harder than anything to get someone to belive you were raped, even if, like myself, you are a model student, you have an excellent reputation and you have the bruises to boot. So to all you short-sighted individuals, please consider both sides of the story. Until you have had your life turned upside down physically and emotionally by someone else's desires and selfishness, watch what you say about rape convictions. Check the stats about unreported cases first, talk to your female friends because guess what? One in three were probably sexually assaulted at some point in their lives all ready.

You might be believed if you would have just posted this "rant" to the phantom article you refer to.

lol - when I saw this image I thought I wouldn't want to be anywhere near that city........I can just image how that must hove sounded!!
We get some really awesome thunder storms here in Texas (especially in the spring) and sometimes my windows and the dishes in my cupboards actually rattle around from the concussion of the thunder clap! The close by strikes are deafening!
Still, I enjoy the storms ~ as long as tornadoes aren't funneling down out of em!! After seeing the vast and total devastation in the Oklahoma City area first hand a few years back I have to admit my fear of tornadoes runs pretty deep.
I don't know where this particular photo was taken - a friend emailed it to me quite awhile back. I wish I knew though - I'd like to know if the photo is actual (with all of those simultaneous strikes) or if it is a composite of some sort.

Also there is also a little something called "Date Rape." A woman drinks way too much and it doesn't matter if the man is also intoxicated. If they end up sleeping together, it is rape.

If she doesn't say no and is not forced or surreptitiously drugged it's not rape.
You cheapen the horror of real rape by allowing irresponsible people to claim ex post facto rape after they change their minds later.

What would you tell women to help keep them from being targets? Also, what would you want men to do?
I was sexually abused by my daughter's dad...three guesses as to how I got pregnant. I was very terrified of him.
Before moving back to the same city where he lives (and where the rest of my family is) I plan on buying a rifle. I am not scared of larger weapons, but it may look strange if I try buying the weapon of choice (M-16) so a rifle will have to do. Maybe that will give him the hint as to what might happen if he tries to come near me again.
Do you know how to use a weapon? If not, the NRA has classes. Better if you know how to use it. Less chance of not using it properly and having it used on YOU.
However, Girl in Red, if you wanted people to take you seriously and understand what you were talking about, you should have posted this as a reply to the original article.
