Our son in law is from that area. We went with them to visit his family last summer. I think that sounds like a very good house for that money there...Not totally sure. You might want to do a search on houses in that area.

The weather was beautiful there. But at that time there was so much construction. We were also in the Simpson area. Or is it Simpsonville. Can' remember exactly. I'm sure if you're already leaning that way...hey, go for it! Follow the money! Sounds like you've already made up your mind!

I went to college in Greenville. I would pick it over KC in the blink of an eye.

Good weather. Great people.

Race relations excellent.

Lots of great churches.

The wife and I play a lot of golf

You NEVER use the blinker on your car when making a turn in Greenville. The people who live there know where you're going and the people who don't have no business knowing.

You want to play golf? Hilton Head and Myrtle Beach are two of the world's golf mecca's. Greenville is loaded too.

But the best thing about Greenville is its proximity to Georgia.

The weather sux. The people are hicks. The roads are bad. No golf anywhere. Don't come here!

My brother in law has been looking for a job in our native state for a year. The competition is tough because of out of state applicants.

PS ;-)

I lived in Greenville for a couple of years....

It is a awesome small city....enough amenities, stores malls & resturaunts in town and 1.5 hours down the road is the Mall of Georgia, another 45 minutes and your in downtown Atlanta.

Housing prices will be a shock to most, homes are cheap here in the South. I now live in the North Side of the ATL metro area in a 6000 sq ft house with 7 bedrooms, 6 baths, on an acre of land, inground pool, professionally landscaped yard gourmet kitchen with granite countertops, custom cabinets which I bought a couple of years ago for $280K. I'm a bit fuzzy on current Greenvile prices but I imagine you will do well....

Charleston is a three hours away and so is Hilton Head. The mountains of North Carolina are within 1 hour (which include Indian Casino's). Snow Skiing is close....

If you like hiking and fishing this is some of the most beautiful country in the nation. BTW great lakes good for skiing 8 months of the year...

If that isn't enough, golf is one of the major pastimes in SC....The Master's just held in Augusta Georgia straddles the SC/GA border.

Greenville is nice. I've only been there once, many years ago, but I was impressed with the city. They have a great City Web Site that brought back fond memories.

My sister lives in Simpsonville, which is a suburb of Greenville. Its kind of a culture shock for someone from New York but it does have cheap housing and friendly people.

However, if you are looking for excitement, its not the place to go. There is a small strip of bars and restaurants in downtown Greenville, but other than that, your life will revolve around Super Wal Mart. Not a place I would want to live, but you can do alot worse.

Hey KSCITYBOY,
Im glad to hear that your thinking about moving to Greenville. Its a nice city, my parents live to the SW of Greenville in Easley, SC. Another place I would Recommend is the Powdersville area this area has been growing briskly and is mostly new houses.
I dont know if you have kids or not but if your looking for a good school district I would Recommend Anderson District 1, where I went, since it has one of the best (Wren) high schools for the area. My dad is a teacher and gets all the info on all of the different districts.
Overall a great place to live.

Job offer in Greenville, South Carolina (Need Advice from Freepers about the area.

Think "New Jersey", take away the great scenery and the friendly people, add oppressive heat, and there you are.
