Good morning, Jack.

Thank you for today's poem. I hope that you don't mind me reposting it. When I read it, this is the picture that came to mind.

RESPONSIBILITIES

I was just a kitten, don't you see?
When a big calloused hand reached down and rescued me
It pulled me from the rubble and we met eye-to eye
A dark haired human, who said "How you doin', lil guy?"

He slipped inside his warm sweaty vest
While pops and loud bangs echoed outside my nest
It felt so safe, I don't know why
As he took me back to the tent to meet the guys

Hands, feet and faces as far as I could see
While I was fed cool water and mushed up MREs
So many laughs and smiles so wide
I was just a kitten, but it tickled my pride

I was slipped in a boot for the Sergeant's Inspection
They were hiding me from his ominous rejection
Until the super high sound before a mortar attack
When we ran to the shelter and crouched back to back

I was petted, passed around and kneaded as the bombs went off
And then I felt strange hands. Heard an unfamiliar cough
I looked up as the Sergeant looked down
His smile was as white and big as a clown's

So, now I'm a Mascot, all vetted and primed
I even have a family to live with when we've all done our time
The Great Cat Up Above certainly looked out for me
In return, I have a litter of guys to get home, don't you see?

Jack Deth~ 07/05/05.

Not so fast. Anyone intending to stop posting Welcome messages must first pass a test:

"but what does "GOING TUT OF BUSINESS" mean?"

LOL That street light does alter the message, doesn't it?

The Price to Pay

We have a journey coming. The path is marked for you.
You’ve all received instructions in the things you have to do.
Don’t worry about the payment. Your fare’s been paid in full.
It took a little influence, but we know Someone with pull.

You may have had a chance sometime, to give some kids a ride.
I’m sure it made you feel real good, somewhere deep inside.
How generous could you have been to pay the price in pain?
Could you have had the courage to go back again and again?

A million times? A billion? Ten billion ... even more?
We can’t conceive the suffering, or the purpose it was for.
The passage has been paid for us, but something’s still not fair.
You still owe a debt of gratitude that can’t be paid by prayer.

You can pay this debt to others who may need something from you,
Pay it forward, if you will, when you see that it’s come due.
The ones who need are needy. Some even carry signs.
Be careful though to choose your path, there are so many lines.

Do not fall prey to giving, just for the giving’s sake.
The proper way to lend your help will give your back an ache.
And blisters could show up on those oh-so-soft hands you have,
Be comforted that where you’re bound, there will be healing salve.

Kinda like the Woody Allen flick, Take the Money and Run (1969), where the bank teller refuses to accept his demand for cash since "gun" was misspelled as "gum."

LOL

I didn't see that movie. I guess that I'm going "Tut of Business".

Do you pronounce "Tut" toot or tuht? Lol

Prairie Born Child

When people wander far from home,
From the land that gave them birth
Their homesick hearts turn often back
To their own wee bit of earth.

Mountain-folk yearn for peaks and crags,
While the sailor pines for the sea
But I was born on the level land,
And the prairie calls to me.

Majestic heights inspire with awe
And the sea has a lure of its own,
But the prairie never calls in vain,
To her child who wanders alone.

The sunlight floods the lofty range,
And the moonlight gleams on the deep;
But the stars themselves come down and sing,
The prairie-born child to sleep.

Thanks, Rus.

It was a very difficult decision, but I know it is the right one. I have not been giving the Place as much time as it requires.

I will see you at the Finest. I'm keeping my Amy's Place Ping List. Who knows ...... I may find something that must be posted. :)
