Pizza, Ice Cream, Hot Dogs, and Other Breakfast Favorites.

Okay Ladies, Gentlemen, and others. I’m eating a giant slice of pizza for breakfast as we speak. I’ve always eaten “unconventional” things for breakfast. I rarely have the usual breakfast foods (eggs, bacon, toast, etc.) unless we eat out. However, I do drink lusty amounts of coffee all day long.

I’m interested in knowing if I there any other unconventional breakfast eating “freaks” out there, or if my wife is correct about my being almost completely alone in this?

Some of my favorite breakfast foods:

Hot dogs Pizza Spaghetti Egg Rolls Hamburgers Steak & Potatoes Giant bowls of vanilla ice cream.

Oh yeah. Any kind of pasta, anytime. I've eaten cold pasta straight out of the Tupperware in the middle of the night with my fingers standing in front of the refrigerator light.

I almost never have the "traditional" breakfast. I'll eat almost anything for "breakfast". Leftover meat, chicken or pasta is a good start.

That's what fine wine is for.

It thins out the fat and flushes it out of your body and veins. If you can deglaze a frying pan with wine, you can also "deglaze" your body with a nice red wine.

At least that's the excuse I use.

LOL!

Hey, I saw that you're a Vietnam Veteran. Thanks. I saw Colonel Barry Bridger on Tuesday. He was in the Hanoi Hilton for almost 6 years.

Leftover popcorn from the night before is always a nutritious breakfast.

I can't do cold food when it can otherwise be eaten hot. I'm not sure why, just always been that way. I'm with you on everything else.

Wow. I've never even considered that. You're probably one of only three or four in the world that eats leftover popcorn for breakfast. Do you pour milk over it?

No milk - just straight popcorn.

I don't usually eat typical breakfast foods in the morning either. Cold pizza is excellent! Or bread with peanut butter and apple slices. My morning meal doesn't usually take place til about 10am...before that I enjoy my coffee and orange juice.

As a matter of fact, my kids eat it for breakfast too. I like it cold, right out of the fridge.

I must add that the city where I live was blessed with a surge of Italian immigrants in the 1950's who brought a pizza (thin crust) recipe with them that spread over the city and cannot be met anywhere else in North America. Sorry New York and Chicago, that's the fact. National pizza chains do very poorly here.

My daughter gets quite disguted with me on weekends. "Mom - can we have real breakfast instead of dinner"? - I tell her she doesn't know what real is!

Drinking wine at any hour doesn't require justification in my view. I take it a step further. If wine is good for you imagine what a sizable jar of moonshine can do. It practically raises the dead.

Krystal burgers. I don't like traditional breakfast food either, and Krystals is the only fast food joint that will serve burgers before ten.

You're welcome. Proud to have served.

Some years ago, I had radiating chest pains that went all the way down my left arm. Fearing a heart attack, I went to the saw bones. All the tests came back negative. He asked me how much coffee I drank. I told him 10+cups a day. He asked if I ate spicy foods. I said, "hey, I'm Italian". He asked about smoking. Yes, I smoke. Alcohol. Yes, I drink.

In the end he told me that for 3 months he wanted -

1. No coffee
2. No spicy foods
3. No cigarettes
4. No alcohol
5. No sex

I told him to just take me out back and shoot me!

I don't usually eat breakfast, except on weekends. And then it is breakfast food.

I do, however, enjoy the before-bedtime bowl of cereal on occasion.

You've almost described the "Fountain of Youth" but I would add two things. My Great Grandfather always said, "Don't forget your booze. And eat your lard....gotta eat your lard boy."

So I'd say that if you add a small bowl of Crisco and a giant glass of whiskey to that lineup you can live forever.
